to thinking genocide is bad?
What do you mean by equal?
as in, there is no distinction
we have no basis to condemn genocide, outside our own society's norms
Correct. Do you have one? I'd like to hear it. That could be massively powerful
okay then
so if i say I really fucking hate chinese
and i want to exterminate each and every last one of them
but
before i do it
i change the society's norms into accepting such an action,
you would not oppose me?
Before we go off into another hypo with the exact same answer, let's focus on the question we already established it leads us to
no
answer the question
yes/no
It's impossible to answer that, but sure. If I was taught and raised that that was OK and never exposed to a different Form of moral reasoning, it's likely that I would be ok with genocide
That makes sense to me
no no
i said
i would change the society
you are already born in this example
It's impossible to answer that, but sure. If I was brainwashed/hyponotized that that was OK and never exposed to a different Form of moral reasoning, it's likely that I would be ok with genocide
no
on this example
you are not brainwashed
the society is
as this brainwashing happens
would you oppose it?
Ah, well no. I don't believe in genocide as a good thing.
well wait
if the society deems it okay
i thought it was good?
so you would resist, until the society decided it was okay, then you would stop resisting?
Society shapes the formation of morals, but morality is personal. A person does not always reflect society, but they can adapt to it
I would resist genocide and hopefully always would. I would like to think I'd never capitulate to a genocidal moral scheme
well wait
"hopefully always would"
you said if you were raised thinking genocide was fine, then it would be okay to do it
I said it's impossible to answer actually.
I entertained that if I was raised AND never exposed to an alternate I would be ok with it because that society would have formed my morality
