from saying theft is bad
then right before i steal
saying its good
then saying it is bad, but it is morally good to keep the money?
and if i can do that, well it sure doesnt seem like there is any morality!
Why? You just applied your values to circumstances. All that changed was your values. Morality was there the whole time
you claim this mythical morality was there the whole time
there is no evidence of it though
it did not restrict any actions
no consequences for violating it (if it can even be violated, since it can just change)
so why do you believe it is there?
what practical difference is there from this and nihilism?
i am going to bed
think over your view
right now it is not very coherent to me
Sure it did. When he thought it was immoral to steal, he didn't. When he didn't, he did
I believe it's there because it's possible to act immorally. You can act and know that you didn't apply your values to your circumstances. And you can use it to judge others. You apply your values to the circumstances and make a moral claim as to good or bad
What practical difference is there from all morals when someone can act immorally? The morality of a person is a sense of their perception of the world. It has no inherent force. If you choose to act in accordance with them there's no practical difference from when you choose to react out of accordance with them
i will leave this
really think about if morality actually exists, or if you are saying it just an opinion from chemicals in your brain
and ask if you think
The evidence is in how it made the individual perceive his circumstances
or are just arising from chemicals
i will be glad to talk to you later, but not tomorrow since its christmas
Yes, emotivism v cognitivism. I already answered that. You said it was a cop out. It was honest. You also don't have an answer to it, even when you think you do
okay
i got to go
last thing for real this time
what you say, is that morality is yay/boo
since it is based on individual
closing discord now
Goodnight sweetie 😘
You call it yay/boo. That's emotivism. I know that it's a very real possibility. I choose cognitivism to give myself the agency, but I know it could just always be emotivism.
You can't escape it either. Even if you want to. You know damn well you could just be a Sack of chemicals
<@&771015472425598985> what do you think about Trump threatening to not sign COVID-19 bill but make it bigger
Shut the fuck up and go to sleep it’s Christmas
That’s what I think about it
I agree with Castiel.
@WMLC I'm not reading through y'all's entire convo, so just answer this yes or no question: Are you an emotivist?
Yes, everyone here is feelings before facts
Is that not obvious
that isn't what emotivism is, but you can always read the wiki 🙂
