I expect full cucking from Trump tonight. People will argue he's extending an olive branch to Dems and their refusal makes the Dems look bad. I don't buy that at all.

The left has framed this as a moral and spiritual battle and until Trump tackles the arguments on those terms no progress will be made.

The point of this speech, as I understand it, is to sell the wall to the American public, to drum up mass support for his shutdown fight.

He should be saying things like the left is using these people. For votes, poor wages, and increased debt. The left is abusing the good nature of sympathetic Americans to gain power in government.

One thing I can say for Trump is that he governs fairly unpredictably. You never know WHAT you're going to get on Mr. Trump's wild ride.

Could be great, could be terrible, could be not much at all.

But I'm holding out hope - it could always be worse!

I think the best we can hope for is Trump gives an ultimatum by a specific date. Make a deal by this date or I'm declaring emergency and building the "wall"

Besides the specific issues I like that Trump is going straight to the people with his message. Attempting to take the medias mischaracterizations out of the equation.

If he is still a wildcard, he's indeed a severely hampered one by activist judges, lobbyists, and in some cases his own cabinet and confidants.

But ultimately I think he still has the fight in him to push through bold legislation.

It's easy to push it off of Trump onto everyone else.

I think he will attempt to sell the wall to the citizenry though, as stated above by others.

Yeah, he'll try to sell the wall again but with the wrong tactic. Facts and figures no longer appeal to these people.

Here's hoping he focuses on the "humanitarian" part and only uses the national security bit to justify his claim of emergency powers to build it anyway.
