@realz fair haha. Guess I need to do some internet browsing to try and find any logical grounds for not having voter ID
There are some good ancillary arguments of general voter suppression
I think that a moderate democrat could be convinced to change their focus from banning voter ID requirements, to requiring the government to ensure free ID enfranchisement
im not from the u.s but we have cheap i.d you can get from any police station in australia that serves no other purpose other than as identification for those that don't drive
Getting an ID in NYC took me an entire afternoon(12-5pm) and something like 60 bucks
That is insane
Yeah that's a bit ridiculous. Bureaucracy at its finest haha.
FL was the best experience with ID
Felt like 5 minutes and the fee was miniscule
PA was midling
I had to wait a while
the only problem is you need a home address, birth certificate and a Tax file number (social security number?) so that would be just as difficult to aqquire for some
Can't recall the fee but it wasn't insane
PA is a little annoying (current resident). Not on New York levels though
you could find an easy work around...if they wanted a solution to the problem
PA raise your hand đź‘‹
@TacitusKilgore yea right now everyone is arguing about that issue in bad faith
@TacitusKilgore they absolutely could. I wouldn't imagine it to be very hard to lay out some general rules that aply to everyone
But I think headway could be made if they worked together
But there is no real incentive to right now
no both parties think they benefit
Point being, blockchain or whatever doesn't stand a chance currently
nah, technological changes take massive effort to implement to governmental procedures
So I am just gonna throw out the fact that democracies are designed to last 150 years and we are going on how many on this one? I can’t help but feel this is a test of the fabric of our democratic method and is perhaps the most “tested” our democracy has been. <In my opinion >
they're always very resistant to change
I don't think it has anything to do with some deadline
Technological change
Internet
Urbanization
sometimes i think i'm getting a insight into how Rome looked before the fall
I think people see patterns too much
massive political corruption, excess etc lol
The rome trope raises my skeptical meters to full
yeah i mean it in jest really
heh the similarities are interesting if you over analyse it lol
just waiting for the gauls and visigoths to invade
@TacitusKilgore I feel that our society is suffering from a lack of critical analysis so I think it’s okay to over analyze in an attempt to force some eyes to open 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t think you’re altogether wrong in the Rome analogy lol
well the vanity of youth and the rejection of faith could be added to the equation too lol
i don't know... i really want the U.S to set a good example for the rest of the world...we tend to follow in their footsteps to some degree
I am going to just say social construction with a mean mass media to construct and push the views and beliefs of the people of this country
