Write your Attorney General. Start a petition to your Attorney General. More likely you just need to find the active one.

To my knowledge the 18-21 other states are just in support of the lawsuit to be heard by SCOTUS. They haven’t necessarily intervened, correct?

2020-12-10 17:15:44 UTC

There is no constitutional provision for "emergency powers"

It is functionally just martial law where "If I can get away with this then I can do this - might makes right".

2020-12-10 17:16:11 UTC

And that was my point.

2020-12-10 17:16:15 UTC

I don't know how many of them have filed "Friend of the Court" documents supporting it. But I believe some have.

2020-12-10 17:16:15 UTC

@Starscraper I though you were banned for using hate speech.

2020-12-10 17:16:32 UTC

I think your speech is pretty hateful, too

2020-12-10 17:17:00 UTC

Agreed... While the left bears most of the blame for running with that narrative, I think that Trump could have done a better job early on to quash that whole thing. He and his team were knew to the whole DC thing - that was their appeal. They had some meetings that should have been reported that didn't go anywhere - if he had come clean, there would have been short term embarrassment, but it would've blown over in days. The Russians wanted the Trump administration to appear compromised and probably made sure it was revealed. The goal was to cause division in the US and they succeeded.

Countries that want to weaken the US couldn't be happier about the way things are transpiring now. We all grow up learning that United, we stand, Divided, we fall. We should take heed. I hope Biden resists the urge to go after Trump.

Paxton was on Crowder this morning and he asserted that between 5-10 states /might/ join the case.

2020-12-10 17:17:34 UTC

In regards to the young woman in Florida being rated by the SWAT team.

2020-12-10 17:18:08 UTC

Interesting point being, people think those certain Trump supporters are crazy for calling for martial law, but we've been under martial law for months now.

2020-12-10 17:18:26 UTC

Fortunately most police officers in most places have been smarter than to try to enforce it.

2020-12-10 17:18:50 UTC

The U.S. Supreme Court has held that “emergency may not create power.” Wilson v. New, 243 U.S. 332 (1917), citing Ex Parte Milligan, 4 Wall. 2 (1866). The Civil War did not give President Lincoln the authority to have civilians in Indiana tried by military commissions without due process of law. 2020-12-10 17:19:41 UTC

Typically the government can do whatever it likes if the remedy has to be sought through a court, who pays for that? Talking about in the best of times.

2020-12-10 17:19:56 UTC

It’s a power grab for all of the opportunists in the Gov.

2020-12-10 17:19:57 UTC

@TaLoN132 i think when asked biden said he wouldn't. Im not sure it would be a good move for him and trump is only really a threat if he is in a position of power.

2020-12-10 17:20:24 UTC

Agreed

2020-12-10 17:20:49 UTC

Power hungry politicians dream of a crisis like this because if you refuse their over reach they can shame you for killing grandma.

2020-12-10 17:21:09 UTC

Martial Law would require the military's cooperation. That will not happen. The Joint Chiefs have already signaled that they would support the legal winner of the election, which will be Biden. The electors have all been slated and in 4 days, their votes will all be sent to DC to await being counted on Jan 6.

2020-12-10 17:21:59 UTC

You’re still so resilient on your belief that he won fair and square. That is fascinating to me.

2020-12-10 17:22:29 UTC

The whole overreaching response from government has always made me think of this quote;

> “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

― Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn , The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

2020-12-10 17:22:29 UTC

@Starscraper, you just advanced to level 6!

2020-12-10 17:23:07 UTC

👍

2020-12-10 17:23:57 UTC

i think it will be resolved with the texas case, i cant see how he can afford to loose that one and carry on with other civil litigation

2020-12-10 17:25:13 UTC

Oof. That’s pretty metal. Let’s pray SCOTUS uses the Constitution as the ban hammer 🔨and doesn’t allow politicians to undermine it’s authority... because of this extra strength seasonal flu. 🤦🏻‍♂️

2020-12-10 17:25:33 UTC

If the scotus says the 4 states were wrong in law and then sends it back to states to sort out and states say OK but we re not charging result what happens then?

2020-12-10 17:25:50 UTC

Ultimately the power lies with state legislatures in certification, electors in casting votes, and Congressmen in counting them.

2020-12-10 17:26:15 UTC

I am looking at it pragmatically. It's a logic puzzle to me. What is more likely than not - from a practical perspective not an emotional one? I took the same approach in 2016 to come to the decision that Trump was the legal winner given as much - arguably more - questionable circumstance. There were people touting bellwether stats as to why Clinton had to have won. Shenanigans in the vote. It was all detritus. I came to the conclusion that Trump won in 2016 - just as I have come to the conclusion that Biden won this year.

2020-12-10 17:26:17 UTC

It seems to me that the SCOTUS case is just granting legislatures and congressmen legitimacy so they're confident enough to do what they probably already know they should.

2020-12-10 17:26:23 UTC

If this one fails I think that is the final nail in the coffin, because if the highest court in the land is like “...nah, this would be too controversial.” Where do you go from there?

2020-12-10 17:27:01 UTC

if the scotus case fails OR it goes back to the states and they dont change their mind, it COULD in principle still be disputed by congress

2020-12-10 17:27:27 UTC

I can't wait for this grotesque charade to be over. All the false conviction, flip flops and goal post contortions have rendered no change to people we always knew would never need convincing in the first place.

2020-12-10 17:27:28 UTC

but that would probably mean nancy being temporary president

2020-12-10 17:28:08 UTC

Frankly I think the GA legislature should call an emergency session and meet despite the governor not granting it - if COVID is enough of a crisis to change election rules against the law, then this is enough of a crisis for the GA legislature to meet without the governor's approval.

2020-12-10 17:28:40 UTC

Let’s make up rules as we go along.

2020-12-10 17:28:57 UTC

We're here because people did that with election rules.

2020-12-10 17:29:06 UTC

The rule making always favors the rule maker.

2020-12-10 17:29:26 UTC

Yes it does

2020-12-10 17:29:47 UTC

It's more fun to create the game than it is to play.

2020-12-10 17:30:01 UTC

That’s for sure

2020-12-10 17:30:25 UTC

question, assuming there is no fraud why would the GA governor not want to call a special session?
