Yes indeed and since things here are trending virtual (thanks COVID) it may make expert witnesses from around the country (and world) more accessible. Won't have to fly them in anymore, which would be huge. May be able to make a similar argument there, even for U.S. witnesses.
I attended last Friday- and found myself addressing the the court appointed psychologist on a 60 inch monitor. Never seen that before, so yes, changing world. Maybe for the better in this regard.

@FaithJoy Whenever they press that green button to override the ballot rejection the machine should be maintaining a log unless the vendor removed the log feature.

@RobertGrulerEsq Those machine are only connected to the vendor provided switches when they need to update the software so if an update happened during the election it was deliberate

Essentially you can mimic an legit official version and design it intricately enough that everything appears normal, like when magicians seem to reveal the secret only to reveal more layers layer on.
Generally speaking, folks, you have to program something to leave a log when you create a program.
It doesn't just do it automatically.
The system can keep track of what files do what to the filesystem in the background, but it's incredibly vague.
Ive heard there was a official fw push to correct an error during polling which means there's probably no more evidence of that error or log files to examine. I dont know if thats true or not.
I can only come to the conclusion that the moves being made are so bold so, "yeah so what" and all reliant on "Orange man bad, you dont want orange man do you ?"

@evildood89 The problem is the vendors/companies are private entities and not subject to the same oversight as the government.
Rootkits are what come to mind if you're looking at programs that actively start inserting themselves into the kernel.
