Crack in the block? It would cost a lot more than $500.

2020-12-02 19:13:00 UTC

Like for real, find the crack, go to a junkyard, find your model, grab a better pan and replace. It'll be super easy. Just get the torque specs for the pan.

2020-12-02 19:13:11 UTC

Likely 8-10 Nm.

2020-12-02 19:15:09 UTC

If it's not that, it's either the rear main seal or front main seal. (most likely)

2020-12-02 19:17:09 UTC

Besides programming, cars are like the other hobby of mine.

2020-12-02 19:18:39 UTC

Is this still part of the metaphor

2020-12-02 19:18:40 UTC

@tofuforget, you just advanced to level 5!

2020-12-02 19:19:42 UTC

No, it's advice if he wants to fix it himself.

2020-12-02 19:21:27 UTC

But yeah, if it's leaking from the front or back and not out the pan, it's likely front main/rear main or the oil pan seals.

2020-12-02 19:21:38 UTC

If it's from the back that'd complicate things.

2020-12-02 19:22:05 UTC

But the most common is cracks in the pan.

2020-12-02 19:22:41 UTC

Especially if you offroad at all.

2020-12-02 19:24:05 UTC

One big rock to bop your engine in the butt is enough to do it.

2020-12-02 19:25:12 UTC

And I appreciate it... Thanks.

2020-12-02 19:25:20 UTC

Yup!

2020-12-02 19:29:31 UTC

My 10yo was funny... "Dad, why don't you just order some flex seal and spray it where the oil is coming out?" I think he just wants me to get flex seal so he can experiment with it.

2020-12-02 19:29:48 UTC

That's a lot of damage.

2020-12-02 19:31:01 UTC

God those commercials are the new Billy Mays meme.

2020-12-02 19:31:28 UTC

"WATCH ME SAW THIS BOAT IN HALF! :D"

2020-12-02 19:31:35 UTC

Yeah... He saw the ad on YouTube and thinks it's a fix-all...

2020-12-02 19:32:04 UTC

Clearly he hasn't had the pleasure of working with ductape.

2020-12-02 19:32:19 UTC

The OG problem solver.

2020-12-02 19:34:46 UTC

Yeah... I have to do a better job of getting him to help me out when I work on stuff.

2020-12-02 20:00:41 UTC

Am I exaggerating or is Trumps Legal Team officially getting behind team 1776 civil war

2020-12-02 20:00:44 UTC

Valve cover gasket leaks are extremely common, and easy to fix.

2020-12-02 20:01:17 UTC

Not to delve into the merits of that happening but this is extreme

2020-12-02 20:01:26 UTC

@Maw BTW - regarding voting system security and vulnerabilities... Given the constraints of infrequent use and not being connected to the Internet, I am fairly certain that all voting systems are going to be behind on security patches for their equipment. I can't imagine any of them having a proprietary OS - maybe an embedded LINUX OS for voting machines, but not likely. I think Dominion is unfairly being singled out because someone found this 15yo tenuous link to Smatmatic, which had the added sensationalism of the Venezuela link (no matter that it was previously debunked).

2020-12-02 20:04:05 UTC

@Maw I dont want to break the rules of chat but they are directly talking about war on stage with Trumps lawyers right there

2020-12-02 20:04:42 UTC

Delete if I cant say that 🤣

2020-12-02 20:10:11 UTC

Oh, but they aren't Trump's lawyers, remember? Trump has nothing to do with this...I'm sure he will denounce the implications.

2020-12-02 20:10:28 UTC

Just running his rallies

2020-12-02 20:10:51 UTC

They just admitted the Kraken is nothing this is valuable

2020-12-02 20:11:21 UTC

He said how is the kraken lawsuit accurate if Georgia was hand recounted they said there was no hand recount

2020-12-02 20:11:38 UTC

So they need another full hand recount

2020-12-02 20:12:31 UTC

True, but I don't think they're as common as pan leaks, and I'd think it'd cost more than $500 to replace the valve cover gasket.

2020-12-02 20:13:08 UTC

Usually that requires flushing the coolant.

2020-12-02 20:13:42 UTC

Depends on the car. And valve cover gasket changes are pretty cheap. especially if you do it yourself. I used to work in an auto-shop.

2020-12-02 20:14:12 UTC

Because I'm pretty sure you have to remove the upper radiator hose from the head.

2020-12-02 20:14:28 UTC

@Dedkraken It doesn't matter. They can say literally anything at this point. 800,000 forged ballots delivered from China. If that doesn't tell everyone they never took the legal path seriously, they thinking hard enough.

2020-12-02 20:14:55 UTC

Not in your typical V6 or V8 configuration. What is the car?
