we're learning about join operations in SQL

2019-02-05 20:24:53 UTC

Oh crap, do you think that's why they were desperately trying to delay the SOTU?

2019-02-05 20:24:56 UTC

She's looked like that for years @Ryonne

2019-02-05 20:25:22 UTC

Sounds boring to me but maybe applicable to your career down the road?

Tfw you are flirting via Google presentation

learn to code @Jacob nice

2019-02-05 20:26:02 UTC

Chad as heck

2019-02-05 20:27:09 UTC

@_AltRight_Anew -AZ 15, first set of 4 complete.

2019-02-05 20:27:23 UTC

@_AltRight_Anew -AZ well it kinda depends what job I apply for
but I'm sure there's some useful applications

2019-02-05 20:27:46 UTC

SQL?

2019-02-05 20:27:51 UTC

yep

2019-02-05 20:27:55 UTC

Structured Query Language

2019-02-05 20:28:04 UTC

There are definitely still some uses of SQL here in the real world.

2019-02-05 20:28:13 UTC

oh well there you go

2019-02-05 20:28:14 UTC

Yeah I wasn't asking what it was, lol

2019-02-05 20:28:25 UTC

I don't use it "every day" but it's in use "every day" here.

2019-02-05 20:28:31 UTC

If you follow.

2019-02-05 20:28:41 UTC

ya I get it

2019-02-05 20:28:42 UTC

Not everything has been converted to NoSQL

2019-02-05 20:28:58 UTC

And massive unstructured JSON objects.

2019-02-05 20:29:32 UTC

If you applied for a job on my team I'd be much happier if you knew SQL than if you didn't.

2019-02-05 20:30:13 UTC

STOP LOOKING AT MY SLIDES ASHLEY!!!

2019-02-05 20:30:26 UTC

I know im not doing anything Discord is lit today!

2019-02-05 20:31:48 UTC

@_AltRight_Anew -AZ 2nd set of 15 complete

2019-02-05 20:34:50 UTC

@Jacob I'd say even now there's a 50/50 chance of me picking MySQL vs MongoDB or something if I start some little proof of concept project. But that probably comes more from natural familiarity of dealing with SQL for decades.

2019-02-05 20:35:08 UTC

oh

2019-02-05 20:35:14 UTC

I didn't know SQL was that outdated

2019-02-05 20:35:24 UTC

It's not, that's kinda what I'm saying

2019-02-05 20:35:29 UTC

And it depends on what you're doing very much.

2019-02-05 20:35:32 UTC

imo

2019-02-05 20:35:49 UTC

I mean I thought SQL was just kinda the default database thing lol

2019-02-05 20:35:54 UTC

Yes, pretty much.

2019-02-05 20:36:11 UTC

But for the Web app people it's nice these days to just get a JSON object back

2019-02-05 20:36:15 UTC

the instructions for one of my assignments in my networking class looked like they were written in 1995 lmao

2019-02-05 20:36:26 UTC

So you use something new and shiny.

2019-02-05 20:37:06 UTC

I'd say as an architect that common mistakes we're seeing now are *reliance* on LDAP directories and classic SQL databases when something else would be better.

2019-02-05 20:38:34 UTC

Mongo is great for programming api but nightmare to query

2019-02-05 20:39:06 UTC

Next gen SQL databases like redshift are still very viable

2019-02-05 20:40:35 UTC

i guess that's better than looking for a sturdy rafter

2019-02-05 20:40:57 UTC
