2019-04-30 17:48:36 UTC

probably could have gotten a coupon for it but w/e, kimovil said that there were some but it didnt actually show them once you clicked

So I know that Micro SD is barely cheaper from China, but are USB drives the same? Not really worth the savings over the usual brands? I need to buy a handful of drives just for utility stuff, Hiren's, DBAN, etc.

2019-04-30 20:07:45 UTC

Although those were probably bad examples, seeing as Hiren's has DBAN.

2019-04-30 21:22:41 UTC

imo just buying bulk drives from Newegg is cheap enough and you don't run the risk of having bullshit speeds and capacities

2019-04-30 21:23:03 UTC

So I'd say yeah basically the same as sd cards

2019-04-30 21:34:02 UTC

why don't you use something like YUMI instead

2019-04-30 21:34:10 UTC

put everything on a single stick

2019-04-30 22:36:32 UTC

@Matthew they do the same thing with blue USB 2.0 ports

2019-04-30 22:36:41 UTC

on hubs etc

2019-04-30 22:37:08 UTC

I always thought blue was standard for 3.0

2019-04-30 22:37:13 UTC

exactly

2019-04-30 22:37:19 UTC

Orange and green aren't tho

2019-04-30 22:37:29 UTC

they make a USB 2.0 hub and use blue ports

2019-04-30 22:37:34 UTC

so you buy it thinking it's 3.0

2019-04-30 22:38:48 UTC

gotta be careful with $2 chargers, they are not always safe

2019-04-30 22:42:21 UTC

Yo nigs

2019-04-30 22:42:46 UTC

Anybody knows a cheap bluetooth module that can place phone calls via bluetooth?

2019-04-30 22:42:59 UTC

Here's a little scheme of what I am planning to do

I've considered the RN52, but it would bump up the price of the project quite a bit

2019-04-30 22:44:39 UTC

@Magnets very interesting. I own 2 of those exact chargers. But as for it not being able to sustain a QC load for upwards of an hour without thermal issues is somewhat of a moot point, since your phone will be finished charging within that time, no?

2019-04-30 22:45:27 UTC

you building yourself a carphone?

2019-04-30 22:46:36 UTC

uh

2019-04-30 22:46:51 UTC

i think you might be able to do something via a bt module and a voice assistant

2019-04-30 22:47:15 UTC

nope, i acquired a spare Beocom but the pcb is busted, and I want to make something useful out of it

2019-04-30 22:48:08 UTC

<:alithink:327930371796893698> are you unable to use Google assistant, Bixby, Siri, Alexa, etc to place calls? I guess I don't understand what your use case is

2019-04-30 22:48:12 UTC

@Windatica It would be good, but there are 20 keys begging to be used

2019-04-30 22:48:27 UTC

<:pepestressed:327933525124841482> wot

2019-04-30 22:48:41 UTC

It's a project for the sake of a project?

2019-04-30 22:48:54 UTC

so you want to be cool retro telephone man?
