I always thought blue was standard for 3.0

2019-04-30 22:37:13 UTC

exactly

2019-04-30 22:37:19 UTC

Orange and green aren't tho

2019-04-30 22:37:29 UTC

they make a USB 2.0 hub and use blue ports

2019-04-30 22:37:34 UTC

so you buy it thinking it's 3.0

gotta be careful with $2 chargers, they are not always safe

2019-04-30 22:42:21 UTC

Yo nigs

2019-04-30 22:42:46 UTC

Anybody knows a cheap bluetooth module that can place phone calls via bluetooth?

2019-04-30 22:42:59 UTC

Here's a little scheme of what I am planning to do

I've considered the RN52, but it would bump up the price of the project quite a bit

2019-04-30 22:44:39 UTC

@Magnets very interesting. I own 2 of those exact chargers. But as for it not being able to sustain a QC load for upwards of an hour without thermal issues is somewhat of a moot point, since your phone will be finished charging within that time, no?

2019-04-30 22:45:27 UTC

you building yourself a carphone?

2019-04-30 22:46:36 UTC

uh

2019-04-30 22:46:51 UTC

i think you might be able to do something via a bt module and a voice assistant

2019-04-30 22:47:15 UTC

nope, i acquired a spare Beocom but the pcb is busted, and I want to make something useful out of it

2019-04-30 22:48:08 UTC

<:alithink:327930371796893698> are you unable to use Google assistant, Bixby, Siri, Alexa, etc to place calls? I guess I don't understand what your use case is

2019-04-30 22:48:12 UTC

@Windatica It would be good, but there are 20 keys begging to be used

2019-04-30 22:48:27 UTC

<:pepestressed:327933525124841482> wot

2019-04-30 22:48:41 UTC

It's a project for the sake of a project?

2019-04-30 22:48:54 UTC

so you want to be cool retro telephone man?

2019-04-30 22:48:55 UTC

Basically

2019-04-30 22:49:33 UTC

<:deletdis:560200664794398741>

2019-04-30 22:49:36 UTC

This is the fucker

2019-04-30 22:49:44 UTC

making a telephone an accessory for your cell phone, what a world we live in

2019-04-30 22:50:01 UTC

alright but how often do you actually make phonecalls

2019-04-30 22:50:40 UTC

he wants to use the keypad on the phone

2019-04-30 22:50:51 UTC

but jsut have it talk to his cell to make the connection

2019-04-30 22:50:57 UTC

It's more of an exercise on designing a good looking PCB

2019-04-30 22:51:45 UTC

it seems like you are jsut making it less convienient

2019-04-30 22:51:56 UTC

to call people

2019-04-30 22:52:13 UTC

The use case would be me leaving the smartphone charging in another room away from my desk, and answering/placing phone calls via the modded beocom

2019-04-30 22:52:53 UTC

is this jsut a convoluted scheme to get you to stop playing candy crush all day?

2019-04-30 22:53:08 UTC

this sounds like an overengineered solution to a non-existant problem

2019-04-30 22:53:11 UTC

just bring the charger in the same room as you

2019-04-30 22:53:30 UTC

@Billy Yum Yum Two-By-Two more or less, yeah

2019-04-30 22:53:40 UTC

or use a bluetooth speaker

2019-04-30 22:54:40 UTC

but jokes aside, I really want to do something with that phone other than collecting dust, and since we don't even have a POTS line, I thought to give this idea a shot

2019-04-30 22:55:42 UTC

you could always just throw it in the garbage
