I think he's correct in the sense that it's more socially acceptable to initially bring it up, but I feel like you'd get a weird look from most people if you told them that you wanna have this state that gives people psychological examinations to get into. And then there's the issue that political ideologies change every decade or so, so you'd have to keep redrawing this filter state if you actually want it to keep working.

Sure, you can look at public opinion for various issues which had very drastic changes in fairly short spans of time. It's a bit less noticeable in the US since there's only two political parties, though, in countries with a parliamentary system, it's not unusual that a party will have a super majority in parliament one election and be reduced to irrelevance two elections later.

Unless, of course, he's just using this as a cover for an ethnostate, in which case that criticism doesn't really apply. However, that brings up a new problem, which is that most of the general public is going to be smart enough to see past his cover.
