Scientific theory is what scientists cite when they fail to prove a theory throughout by the scientific method.

2019-05-18 02:39:19 UTC

Still didn't specify which theory

If a theory passes the scientific method in it’s entirety, it ceases to be a theory.

2019-05-18 02:40:31 UTC

That's where you're wrong kiddo

2019-05-18 02:40:37 UTC

@Derek Nelson The opposite, a scientific theory is an explanation of a natural event that can be *repeatedly tested and verified.*

2019-05-18 02:41:03 UTC

according to google “A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world”

2019-05-18 02:41:12 UTC

This is about gravity, correcT?

2019-05-18 02:41:14 UTC

If it doesn’t, it remains a theory. And is often still cited as scientific theory, Being postulated as if it’s proven, hoping the average joe is an idiot, and doesn’t know what they’re saying.

all hail google the knower of all

@Derek Nelson So you know more than someone who works on the field? 🤔

2019-05-18 02:42:08 UTC

Scientific theory isn’t the method that determines proof. The scientific method is.

2019-05-18 02:42:11 UTC

@Credibly Charted sorry its not its about what a scientific theory is

2019-05-18 02:42:30 UTC

what i said doesnt say that at all

2019-05-18 02:42:43 UTC

Well we can easily just search up the requirements of a scientific theory and it's definitions

2019-05-18 02:42:49 UTC

2019-05-18 02:43:28 UTC

@Derek Nelson No, but the theory is put trough the scientific method.

A scientific theory explains a natural event of some sort. It makes predictions, and if said predictions are accurate and stand up to testing and verifiabilty, it remains as a theory.

2019-05-18 02:43:49 UTC

It shouldn't be a debate about what it is

2019-05-18 02:44:03 UTC

@Credibly Charted thats what im sayin man

2019-05-18 02:44:17 UTC

Well if Derek was paying attention to what sort of theory I'm talking about, this wouldn't be a debate at all.

Scientific theory can take elements that are proven by the scientific method, and use it in their hypothesis. Like water being wet, for example. But a scientific theory can say something like, “water is wet, therefore ball earth.” And still completely qualify as scientific theory, and Fail the scientific method.
