"On top of a theory" *Which theory?*
OoF
Guys I ran out of milk :(
A theory is an observation of a fact. No more, no less.
Oh no
Hollow earth is fake prove me wrong
A theory is a belief.
It seeks to explain that fact to its best possible model;
@Derek Nelson And what belief?
no a scientific theory is an explanation of a natural observation, a scientific law is an observation of a natural phenomenon
@Derek Nelson So you ignore the first definition to pick the one that suits you? Cha cha, real smooth
@Derek Nelson how about you look at the first one
Scientific theory is what scientists cite when they fail to prove a theory throughout by the scientific method.
Still didn't specify which theory
🍿
Y'all mind if I ***use the secondary definition***
i thinks thats called cherry picking

If a theory passes the scientific method in it’s entirety, it ceases to be a theory.
That's where you're wrong kiddo
@Derek Nelson The opposite, a scientific theory is an explanation of a natural event that can be *repeatedly tested and verified.*
@Derek Nelson nope
according to google “A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world”
This is about gravity, correcT?
If it doesn’t, it remains a theory. And is often still cited as scientific theory, Being postulated as if it’s proven, hoping the average joe is an idiot, and doesn’t know what they’re saying.
all hail google the knower of all
read above @Derek Nelson
@Derek Nelson So you know more than someone who works on the field? 🤔
Scientific theory isn’t the method that determines proof. The scientific method is.
@Credibly Charted sorry its not its about what a scientific theory is
what i said doesnt say that at all
Well we can easily just search up the requirements of a scientific theory and it's definitions
^
@Derek Nelson No, but the theory is put trough the scientific method.
A scientific theory explains a natural event of some sort. It makes predictions, and if said predictions are accurate and stand up to testing and verifiabilty, it remains as a theory.
