What do you guys think it would cost to buy out a BSA camp site?
I was with my sister today and she was telling me
Thicc
Depends on location, size, state of the facilities
Usable, big enough, not a weird location
The DNA tests can be useful but it’s not 1% of the joy and connection to actually researching the names and stories in your family tree. It’s a must do ASAP IMO
You could probably pick one up in the Rocky Mountain region for a fair price
IE is active in that region, too
very active
Yee. There's a really nice scout ranch not too far outside denver actually
what would "a fair price" be?
@Mitchell-TX that’s what we did
Pretty sure she said something about the Mayflower too
She’s gonna send it to me later
A couple million I'd imagine
That's on the high end. Price at 9.9m
I found one for 3.75 million
Isn't 2320 acres massive though?
Thats huge yeah
There are a lot of smaller weird youth camps that have land that go out of business at some point. You don't really need to buy a ranch with thousands of acres.
exactly
But we want thousands of acres, for uh, expansion
sometimes all these little Christian schools can afford their own camp sites
Whatever we do, we have to avoid buying property in northern idaho at all costs
there's a lot here for under a million
even after you scroll past the RV parks
@DixieBoy76 - KY I would bet most of us have revolutionaries in our line. You just have to look. The massive online trees are being driven more and more by AI. It just takes a human to do the final check before making it official.
@DixieBoy76 - KY That's really cool. I have my family traced back to, like, 1918 lol
@Mitchell-TX I tried doing my own but did it wrong
I traced a few ancestors back to England, Ireland and one from Switzerland
Yeah they were still in America in the 1600’s
That’s when they came over I think
I traced mine back to like the late 1700's in Prussia
@Drover Tom My Dad’s side is from Prussia
That's where my dad's side is too
They were from West Prussia in a little town called Garnsee
I'd have to go back and look at mine. I have photographs of marriage records and stuff. They kept very good records lol
