Because I uploaded to GEDMatch and it shows a lot of Baltic genes

2019-02-22 00:57:48 UTC

They were all pretty much the same though, like under the Prussian/German empire

2019-02-22 00:58:22 UTC

Now if you go there as soon as you cross the border from Germany its definitively Poland

2019-02-22 00:58:31 UTC

I miss Prussia 😦

2019-02-22 00:58:49 UTC

But in a weird way maybe Polish occupation of Prussia is preserving it at the moment

2019-02-22 00:58:56 UTC

Until we take back Western Europe that is

2019-02-22 00:58:59 UTC

@Bjorn - MD Right... if we're gonna play the whole "who was there longest" game, part of Germany should actually go to Poland

2019-02-22 00:59:00 UTC

Never really thought of that

2019-02-22 00:59:09 UTC

In that case, thanks @Jacob

2019-02-22 00:59:20 UTC

Germany wasnt even a thing until the late 1800s lol

2019-02-22 00:59:30 UTC

Prussia has existed a long time before Germany

2019-02-22 00:59:38 UTC

Was the HRE not Germany?

2019-02-22 00:59:44 UTC

@Jacob Sorbs aren't Poles, lol. They're not Lechitic. Closer to Bohemians than anyone else.

2019-02-22 00:59:55 UTC

Well you had Germanic peoples but no unified Germany

2019-02-22 01:00:00 UTC

I mean, sure, but Kashubians technically aren't Poles either

2019-02-22 01:00:12 UTC

Yeah, but they're at least Lechitic.

2019-02-22 01:00:31 UTC

I guess we're gonna have to give part of Germany to Czech Republic then

2019-02-22 01:00:48 UTC

Germany was made up of city states mostly. That's why there's still such a drastic dialectic difference in the german language

2019-02-22 01:01:11 UTC

Prussia, Hesse, Westphalia, Saxony, etc.

2019-02-22 01:01:28 UTC

Bavaria

2019-02-22 01:02:05 UTC

Yupp ^ Like when I lived in Northern Germany people there talked shit on Bavaria all the time, and said they didnt speak 'real german'

2019-02-22 01:02:05 UTC

ultimately though, I don't think people should really have a say on what happens in their homeland unless they actually commit to it and live in it

2019-02-22 01:02:24 UTC

@Jacob There were less than, like, 60,000 Sorbians the better part of twenty years ago, and they're probably being completely assimilated into what's left of German culture at this point. Probably not feasible. Internal autonomy, if nothing else, but even that would be a bit dodgy, because there's even a little bit of division between Upper and Lower Sorbs.

2019-02-22 01:02:37 UTC

right

2019-02-22 01:02:42 UTC

I agree about not having a say unless you have a stake.

2019-02-22 01:02:52 UTC

it was more of a thought exercise on what happens if we take this to the logical conclusion

2019-02-22 01:03:03 UTC

@Jacob No u.

2019-02-22 01:03:26 UTC

It's how America conquered the west. Anyone can claim it, but whoever settles it and works the land owns it

2019-02-22 01:03:46 UTC

Fair enough. I just though I'd jump into the clusterf@#$ and indulge in a bit of <:avtism:359037377919844352>, lol.

2019-02-22 01:03:51 UTC

@Drover Tom This topic really tickles my tism’

2019-02-22 01:03:56 UTC

Not gonna lie, I do plan on voting in Polish elections in 2019. But that's because, if I don't vote, someone else who doesn't have a stake is gonna vote and they're gonna vote for something worse.

2019-02-22 01:04:03 UTC

@DixieBoy76 - KY what was that in response to?

2019-02-22 01:04:19 UTC

@Jacob Not sure I just was being dumb

2019-02-22 01:04:22 UTC

oh lol

2019-02-22 01:04:49 UTC

anyway, ideally every country would repeal the right to vote for citizens abroad

2019-02-22 01:04:51 UTC

Lol there's still people in Germany that have Ostpreussen meetups

2019-02-22 01:05:09 UTC

@Drover Tom Is that like SOTAR?

2019-02-22 01:05:20 UTC

A lot of countries don't allow non-resident citizens to vote.

2019-02-22 01:05:23 UTC

Or SOCV
