Well they wanted magically trained machinists immediatly

2019-02-26 21:26:21 UTC

More states need to following Wyoming’s example. Offer affordable two year certification programs at community college for people who wanna work in those industries

2019-02-26 21:26:57 UTC

isn't $70,000 pretty high? that's more than my computer science degree pays

2019-02-26 21:27:12 UTC

Trade jobs are the hidden gem and may be the way for many to make a "family wage" so their wife can stay home and care for the kids.

2019-02-26 21:27:29 UTC

Better make companies train their employees and stop offloading onto subsidized state education

Being a machinist isnt podunk work. It takes skill on equipment you wont have in your garage

2019-02-26 21:29:12 UTC

Ok some people do but not poor familirs starting out

2019-02-26 21:30:09 UTC

Ya you don’t want people trained ‘on the job’ in some of those industries. Especially extraction industries because a mistake can cost lives or ecological disasters.
You need some sort of background and understanding before you get there otherwise you’re a liability

2019-02-26 21:30:13 UTC

@Nemets imagine dating a communist girl 😂

2019-02-26 21:30:34 UTC

@hbutzer0511 "hey due process... 🖕🏻 ~NY Governor" 😡

2019-02-26 21:30:57 UTC

Muh classrom isnt going to replace on the job training

2019-02-26 21:31:16 UTC

Companies have to train people anyway at some point.

2019-02-26 21:31:56 UTC

Even if they send them to consolidated training

2019-02-26 21:32:30 UTC

For example my cousin hires elitricians at $40/hr (canadian) and pays for their trade education

2019-02-26 21:33:04 UTC

Out of highshool

2019-02-26 21:33:12 UTC

wow nice

2019-02-26 21:33:21 UTC

@Asatru Artist - MD If I were a I.E. member in New York..I would consider exploring a new homestead.

2019-02-26 21:34:05 UTC

Well in Wyoming it is a trade education you’re getting. You don’t get any sort of degree just a certification, and it’s all a hands on learning approach

2019-02-26 21:34:08 UTC

@hbutzer0511 that red flag law has already gotten one guy murdered by police here in MD

2019-02-26 21:34:19 UTC

A lot of those programs are subsidized by the companies in the area

2019-02-26 21:34:31 UTC

Trade education is definitly better than nothing

2019-02-26 21:35:10 UTC

@Asatru Artist - MD What was the scenario?

2019-02-26 21:35:14 UTC

I still think companies copping out of training and then importing high skill visas is bs

2019-02-26 21:36:02 UTC

H1b visas need to stop

2019-02-26 21:36:42 UTC

basically the guy got accused of being dangerous by a family member, police show up, things happen, dude ends up dead

2019-02-26 21:36:50 UTC

no due process, no actual crime committed

2019-02-26 21:37:05 UTC

@⚡Clark⚡ All non-marriage and (White) -adoption visas need to stop.

2019-02-26 21:37:46 UTC

It’s also a social problem. We’ve told all the kids in America you can go to college for four years, get a degree in basket weaving, and make 100k/yr

2019-02-26 21:38:04 UTC

@Asatru Artist - MD "Potentially dangerous people." Pre-crime much?

2019-02-26 21:38:10 UTC

@Drover Tom I knew my basket weaving degree wasn't going to make me 100k...

2019-02-26 21:38:34 UTC

I feel good getting a worthless history degree on the governments dime.

2019-02-26 21:38:38 UTC

@Bjorn - MD Yeah, who needs Chinese communism when you have liberals in charge here?

2019-02-26 21:38:39 UTC

Higher education is such a racket outside of stem (and even then watch out)

2019-02-26 21:39:05 UTC

@Asatru Artist - MD don't kid yourself. You're very entrepreneurial.

2019-02-26 21:39:08 UTC

And skilled

2019-02-26 21:39:11 UTC

There's no shortage of STEM, just a trick to make people go to school

2019-02-26 21:39:19 UTC

Your CS degree is going to go toe to toe with indians with some online certs working for less
