@BubbleBurster 24/7 is trash

2019-08-18 22:14:43 UTC

What did you do?

2019-08-18 22:15:18 UTC

@MrGiggles So glad we're in agreement on that

2019-08-18 22:15:50 UTC

At least this place has a debate chan

2019-08-18 22:16:25 UTC

Memes are fun

2019-08-18 22:16:41 UTC

Proof

2019-08-18 22:17:10 UTC

Yeah. They relegated me to their semi-banned section and told me I was not debating in the proper place even though their mods didn't seem to catch that memo

2019-08-18 22:17:25 UTC

That place is a joke

2019-08-18 22:18:12 UTC

@BubbleBurster let's go to civil debate @Citizen Z

2019-08-18 22:18:46 UTC

Why do you care so much

2019-08-18 23:28:15 UTC

Dunno if anyone saw that debate on FTFE's channel today but it was a dumpster fire

2019-08-19 00:23:20 UTC

@BubbleBurster the one that took place here in icewall?

2019-08-19 00:27:11 UTC

Maybe. It had people from ice wall server in it

2019-08-19 00:28:07 UTC

It was a 3 way debate. Globe earth, flat earth, and simulation theory lol

2019-08-19 00:28:17 UTC

The latter must have been a joke tho

2019-08-19 00:32:13 UTC
2019-08-19 02:20:35 UTC

Phuket Word huh? That guy is one of the dumbest flat earthers

2019-08-19 02:21:34 UTC

He lately believes that the sky is an actual liquid at some point

2019-08-19 02:22:00 UTC

He's made demonstrations of perspective which accidentally debunk his own position

2019-08-19 02:22:10 UTC

I don't take him seriously anymore

2019-08-19 02:23:07 UTC

A lot of flat-earthers believe in a ‘waters above’ as described in the Bible iirc

2019-08-19 02:23:37 UTC

Well yeah that's likely where he gets it from. Here's his reasoning:

2019-08-19 02:24:13 UTC

It gets colder as you rise in elevation. At some point the oxygen, nitrogen, etc turns into liquid

2019-08-19 02:24:37 UTC

Even though the temps for that to occur are known as are the temps in the atmosphere

2019-08-19 02:24:59 UTC

Hmm

2019-08-19 02:26:57 UTC

And high altitude balloons don't get wet nor show signs of contraction or freezing from extremely low temps that would have to be present for those liquids

2019-08-19 02:27:15 UTC

Nor an explanation of how those liquids would stay suspended in the air

2019-08-19 02:27:48 UTC

Basically "I believe X" and "I'm not going to address the problems with my positon"

2019-08-19 02:28:59 UTC

The mesopause is the coldest part of the atmosphere and it’s still well above the boiling point of those gases

2019-08-19 02:29:48 UTC

I think most people who believe in ‘waters above’ think that it’s above the firmament

2019-08-19 02:31:21 UTC

That's fine. So what's the observation that leads to that hypothesis, I'd ask

2019-08-19 02:31:35 UTC

Or the one that leads to the hypothesis of a firmament existing

2019-08-19 02:31:48 UTC

Idk

2019-08-19 02:32:13 UTC

You can only get to those hypotheses biblically. And that is NOT a valid launching point in science

2019-08-19 02:32:27 UTC

True

2019-08-19 02:33:57 UTC

And then even if you'd like to proceed with the scientific method, more power to you. But how would you test the accuracy of these claims?

2019-08-19 02:34:07 UTC

There's just no evidence

2019-08-19 02:35:41 UTC

And if God gave us a rational and scientific brain that cannot be utilized to discover him, that's some sick joke

2019-08-19 02:36:36 UTC

Even if I believed in a god, I wouldn't believe in a god like that

2019-08-19 02:39:54 UTC

In my later years of being a Christian, I believed that God’s existence was unfalsifiable, but that we were just supposed to have faith, and use science for everything else.
