To protect the nation by protecting the land and setting the general framework for prosperity to happen.
What constitutes a nation? Protecting the land for whom? Prosperity of whom?
😂
I'm so sorry that I missed this conversation.
It’s never too late
Here’s a covid story. We have a study hall period at my school. I asked my supervisor, who is the school’s biology teacher, if a friend and I could work together at a large table opposite each other. She put her hand on her head in frustration, “I’ve been having to shut off my scientific brain and turn on my robot brain,” she said, “the administration says no, and you have to sit outside if you want, but you have to sit next to each other and not facing.” I responded, “all of the masks and the distancing and the one way hallways are religious ritual to an invisible god, isn’t it.” “It sure is,” she said.
Went over my head. Are you saying masks don’t reduce the likelihood of the spread of the virus?
I would be bad if I'd say: "Yes, masks reduce the likelihood" because we have no study. I would also be bad if I'd say: "No, masks don't reduce the likelihood" because still we have no study. I don't know if we can have a comprehensive study to ask this question and on which we could all agree. I think most people go by the logic that: "Having a mask is better than no mask in fighting the virus." - Argument being that: "Having something is better than nothing." I can also understand that logic. But can other people also understand that there might be diminishing returns in the Grand Scheme of Things on obliging people to wear masks ? It seems to be a trade-off. Is it worth it? I'd pose the following question: "Let's assume wearing masks is a tradeoff. Let's assume also that wearing masks is a a negative trade-off on the long run and we are all aware of it. Than: How can we diminish the negative trade-offs in the future and still be wearing masks?" **** ======= ****So from what she was saying, you and your friend can stay "back to back" or "side to side" or "ear to ear in a straight line" 😂 @ Zurich That's a good one :)))
Hmm - this is quite painful. Masks don’t reduce likelihood of virus transfer. I guess nothing is self- evident.
When have masks not helped with airborne pathogens? Yes it’s too soon for data on Corona specifically. We do have data on airborne pathogens. It’s why we cover ourselves when we sneeze. I believe that this is a case where we can be safe to assume that many of the rules apply.
Exactly.
All I wonder is how many of the precautions are more for psychological effect, especially considering that most people don’t follow them strictly and the enforcement isn’t 100%
Zino
Wearing a mask stops tiny droplets. Tiny droplets can contain covid19. Wearing a mask. stops covid19.
Is there a problem with that?
Compelled Germophobia is a terrible idea. We understand the risks and wish that those most scared of it would choose to stay home and network as they see fit. The rest of us will work and network as we see fit.
The costs of the rules we *must follow* during COVID are incalculable.
People who say no to the lockdowns and masks have access to the same information you do. You can assume you’re just smarter than they are, or you can realize that they prioritize things differently; and they have that right.
Chicken Little was afraid the sky was falling, and was easy to manipulate by the Fox. I am neither chicken little nor the Fox, and you’ll need to literally kill me because I won’t play that game
Compelled germophobia?? I’d hope that everyone would be precautious at a possibly life threatening virus that can put others at extreme risk
The cost to your liberty be stupid vs the cost to healthcare and to people for healthcare and you putting others at risk. I choose your liberty.
Well I guess as long as you’re not affected why should we care about those who it does affect
In other words, I no longer care if masks reduce the likelihood of Covid spread. The credibility of the information and conclusions on this is low.
If you truly believe that people must stay inside and wear masks. Stick to your conviction and imprison or kill them if they say no.
That doesn’t seem worth it, does it? Guess you have to actually cooperate instead of impose force the.
I care greatly. It’s you who doesn’t care if you believe your fear justifies your total control of a population/
So, kill me. And everyone else who tells you and your politicians no. If you aren’t willing to do that, I believe arguing about it is a waste of time. Keep sharing information and make decisions you think are best to make
The credibility of this information is low? Ask your doctor not to wear a mask when performing surgery next time. Please. You want to protect ur liberty ? Have it. But if it puts others at actual greater risk it’s not a case of individual right anymore.
“I choose your liberty” precisely. And if you try to take it, one of us will die. Good luck
I choose to protect your liberty. You choose to spend mine
No you’re taking it down to the level of locking yourself inside and imprisoning yourself all that was said was to wear a mask. And the evidence that a mask reduces the likelihood of a respiratory virus is clear.
So to the conclusions of a cost benefit analysis u say ‘ I kill you’ .
My liberty isn’t yours to spend
So I will defend it
I’m just glad that we don’t have people like you that make decisions on the well being of our population
It’s public policy - it’s not me taking your right. It ceases to be a case of individual liberty imo for reasons I have above. But still, I don’t believe in arbitrarily doing things. Public policy has to be informed. I’m not even supporting any form of forced mask wearing. I’m just stating the case can easily be made
People like me never would. We believe in reciprocation and consent.
We don’t make decisions on behalf of the collective
Lol- when do we not make decisions based on the collective?
U said on behalf of. My bad
We share information and we value the individuals freedom to choose. And we navigate within a world where people are choosing freely.
The few rights we will defend of is life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. And you’re willing to stomp all 3 of those if it makes you feel safe, you tyrant
False claim of what rights are being violated here. False conclusion
Your right to life ends when you infringe on mine. That’s the point
Very bad argument
Or you just don’t get it because you’re so full of yourself and how your life and liberties are effected by others living their life and exercising their liberties. Selfish.
I’m not even saying u shouldn’t let anyone take ur liberty. My first objection is the refusal to admit that masks help.
You can make the same type of arguments without being non-scientific
