These deals Trump's gonna have with all of these nations really are going to put the economy on overdrive. Equalizing trade has done so much good for us already, steel is back and the Chinese are selling their real estate in NYC because now they have a deficit. Once we get both an equal playing field and much less trade barriers, we'll have a crazy export boom, manufacturing is going to go through the roof, the economy in general will skyrocket, if you thought 4.1 was good, trust me, it can go a lot higher than that.

2018-08-05 19:16:55 UTC

I think that's overly optimistic, I doubt we're going to have an export boom, we'll still be heavily reliant on imports, manufacturing won't comeback unless you stop raising minimum wage and deregulate, which is debatable if is happening.

2018-08-05 19:17:40 UTC

Also I don't think Steel "is back" China still out produces and sells us by substantial amounts in steel, and I don't think our steel industry has really recovered that much at all.

2018-08-05 19:17:46 UTC

But I dunno, I haven't looked at that data.

2018-08-05 19:21:18 UTC

Like even after leaving the TPP, it really had no positive effect, the damage was done.

2018-08-05 19:27:09 UTC

I'm still glad we left, because now we have a chance of fixing this (((free-trade))) garbage.

2018-08-05 19:27:09 UTC

Hi still glad we left, because now we have a chance of fixing this (((free-trade))) garbage., I'm Dad!

2018-08-05 19:27:34 UTC

But, the damage to our industrial sector hasn't diminished.

2018-08-05 20:02:04 UTC

Brit Hume retweeted Mark Collett lol

2018-08-05 20:31:07 UTC

That’s one reason why Trump calls the media fake news and enemies of the ppl. Double standard, bias, backstabbing, dirt graveling, bottom dwellers

2018-08-05 20:40:10 UTC

@zakattack04 fair argument

2018-08-05 20:41:34 UTC

manufacturing isn't a wage job, it's salaried income

2018-08-05 20:41:54 UTC

deregulation is happening right now, pretty rapidly

2018-08-05 20:42:15 UTC

Doesn't matter, It's the act of raising minimum wage will destroy the other sectors, which might use resources produced by industrial jobs.

2018-08-05 20:42:23 UTC

And I don't think that's always the case.

2018-08-05 20:42:29 UTC

Not every industrial job is salary.

2018-08-05 20:42:43 UTC

Usually more skilled labor jobs are salary and unskilled is wage.

2018-08-05 20:42:56 UTC

LIke doctors and engineers works salary.

2018-08-05 20:43:23 UTC

regardless there will be a pretty big rise in exports once we get the trade partners to drop their existing tariffs

2018-08-05 20:43:32 UTC

But they aren't right now.

2018-08-05 20:43:35 UTC

Definitely much more than prior. I think

2018-08-05 20:43:36 UTC

A much better alternative is to raise the EITC

2018-08-05 20:43:43 UTC

The EU just added more "VATs" (tariffs)

2018-08-05 20:43:45 UTC

Yeah no shit sherlock, we're in a trade war

2018-08-05 20:44:18 UTC

alternative to raising the minimum wage

2018-08-05 20:44:20 UTC

@Walter Johnson Why not just lower taxes?

2018-08-05 20:44:45 UTC

I've always been infavor of just lower taxes instead of raising tax deductions or credits.

2018-08-05 20:44:52 UTC

Seems more direct to me.

2018-08-05 20:45:17 UTC

The people who benefit from EITC probably don't pay that much in taxs or at all

2018-08-05 20:45:17 UTC

issue is we want to directly benefit workers

2018-08-05 20:45:26 UTC

we do need to have credits and the such

2018-08-05 20:46:32 UTC

I'm just saying don't get your hopes too high there FLanon, we've been out of the trade game since the 70s and now we want to get back in.

2018-08-05 20:46:32 UTC

Hi just saying don't get your hopes too high there FLanon, we've been out of the trade game since the 70s and now we want to get back in., I'm Dad!

2018-08-05 20:46:34 UTC

EITC is intended for the working poor

2018-08-05 20:46:38 UTC

also, a Value Added Tax is not a trade barrier

2018-08-05 20:46:42 UTC

There's a good chance we're going to get kicked in the teeth on this.

2018-08-05 20:46:46 UTC

It's a tariff.

2018-08-05 20:46:50 UTC

It's basically a tariff.

2018-08-05 20:47:07 UTC

Whatever you import, that add a tax on top of it.
