Anyone use a BF-F8HP
When I plug in a headset it plays audio out of the headset and the integrated speaker
Wanted to know if that's a fault or if there's a way around it
I have the UV-82HP and don't recall it ever doing that.
Damn, gonna call them up
Article was written in 2016 but still has relevancy.

Anyone hace recommendations on a burner phone
Yeah walmart 25 bucks. Smart phone with android. Tracphone. Service is 20 a month for unlimited talk and text, with 1G data. 2 G is 25, 3G is 30.
Following is a list of hardware that is supported by **OsmocomBB**. . .

OpenMoko - Neo Freerunner (GTA02)
Basically you can flash firmware on those phones to make them safe much like Libreboot for a C2D Thinkpad.
Your calls and texts could still be traced but that is inevitable unless you're using encryption, and I have no idea if that's even legal.
With a flashed OS couldn't you just use signal or is osmocombb not compatible?
These are old T9 phones, not android smartphones.
Ohh my bad.
But there is added security in using something like this.
its ok.
They are really expensive though, you don't have to go through all that trouble you could just get a cheap phone and pull the battery when you don't want to be tracked.
The tracphone from walmart I spoke of, has a removable battery. Right now you can go in mask and gloves, fully covered, and get one...no big deal.
Ended up going with the 58 inch mfj 1414 dual band for the mobile 2 meter cheap rig. Picked it up for 38$
I can help with Ham questions
Ham antennas are a legit joke. I bought a comet dual band that was rated at 250W and proceeded to melt it in half while driving and talking on my 100W radio.
I think this sums up most of our coms
@redbeard comets are sposed to be good shit...surpirising. don't they have a warranty?
Everything I own is cheap trash. Why not my comms too? Haha
It’s better than nothing
Is there a way to connect a 2 pin connector to the aux port of my electronic ear muffs and just use a clip on mic?
Something like this but instead of the ear piece it’s an aux plug
Some of the electronic hearing protection will turn off the external microphones when you plug in, so you can't hear ambient anymore
Which ones do that?
All the good ones don't.... peltor, sordin, etc.
Oh, you mean electronic earmuffs
Yeah, that's what he was asking about. Some of them do still work
The howard leights will also mount to the ARC rail on a helmet I think
Peltors will as well...
And you can get a set of used peltors for a few hundred, almost not worth trying to janky a setup together.
Pretty big price difference though.
I have to equip two people, so even used that gets super expensive
Just get a lapel mic with in ear and put it under the muffs, bunch of people I know do that.
@Rawhide that’s exactly what I was trying to do. Thanks!!. I have Howard Leight impact sports like in the video and I have rifleman opmod muffs I got off OpticsPlanet. Not sure if it would work well with the opmods but I’ll test them out.
