Really, it depends on your mission and if you can get steady resupply.

2020-04-30 22:14:34 UTC

Thermal optics have lag

2020-04-30 22:14:48 UTC

Can’t see through glass

2020-04-30 22:14:51 UTC

Poor eye relief

2020-04-30 22:15:05 UTC

Sparrow my baseline for a red dot is 150 to 200 minimum anything less is a range toy and not to be trusted

2020-04-30 22:16:14 UTC

Unless you’re just like, hog hunting, I would go thermal spotter and then regular optic with analog NV on your gun

2020-04-30 22:16:39 UTC

Or run fusion on your lid and a laser on your gun

2020-04-30 22:17:53 UTC

I wouldn't use a thermal as a main optic personally. Not unless it's just for hunting, and night time. Great for spotting, that really all I'd want one for though.

2020-04-30 22:19:07 UTC

I mean thermals are dope, but I use them for observation and identification, not as an aiming device

2020-04-30 22:19:38 UTC

Okay, weapon mounted thermal for spotting or seperate device?

2020-04-30 22:20:03 UTC

Separate device unless you have a dedicated thermal rifle like serious hog hunters

2020-04-30 22:20:09 UTC

^

2020-04-30 22:20:16 UTC

That would be my recommendation.

2020-04-30 22:20:57 UTC

Hell, depending on how heavy you want that thing to be, you could put the thermal on an offset mount for spotting and then adjust from there. But that'd be unweildy.

2020-04-30 22:21:10 UTC

Uhhhh

2020-04-30 22:21:25 UTC

I mean I *guess* you could rig a FLIR breaxh lije that

2020-04-30 22:21:42 UTC

Yeah... that's a possibility....

2020-04-30 22:22:22 UTC

Sounds very call of duty lmao

2020-04-30 22:22:33 UTC

Hahaha, screw it. Buy a Reap IR

2020-04-30 22:23:27 UTC

With all that said, any reccomendations for thermal spotting scopes?

2020-04-30 22:23:33 UTC

Bruh for that money you could get a pvs14 and a ecoti

2020-04-30 22:23:49 UTC

Hahaha, I know. The Reap IR thing was a joke.

2020-04-30 22:24:04 UTC

That's for them rich boys.

2020-04-30 22:25:09 UTC

Just grab your PAS-28, throw it on the tripod on top of your spotting scope, hook it into your tough book, grab a 152, snag a satcom slot and stream it to the COC, it’s not that hard guys

2020-04-30 22:25:57 UTC

If I knew what anything in that sentence meant I might have gotten the joke

2020-04-30 22:26:15 UTC

Sorry haha

2020-04-30 22:26:37 UTC

If I wanted thermals I would snag a used FLIR breach or PTS22something

2020-04-30 22:27:27 UTC

Lmao, hahaha. Yeah, sorry.

2020-04-30 22:27:46 UTC

Used Leopold LTO is very afforabdle for a having thermal capabilities

2020-04-30 22:27:56 UTC

Not great res and range tho

2020-04-30 22:29:31 UTC

As an ambi shooter I considered running a standard weapon sight and a thermal monocular on my "off eye" for spotting and aiming

2020-04-30 22:30:10 UTC

That’s a possibility

2020-04-30 22:30:31 UTC

Oh you could do that if you wanted. But the real problem comes in then on... how are you gonna aim?

2020-04-30 22:30:43 UTC

Or are you planning on using thermals in day time?

2020-04-30 22:36:49 UTC

Anyone need budget vests?

2020-04-30 22:37:05 UTC

Using my off eye with the thermal to spot and using my other eye to aim the rifle

2020-04-30 22:52:04 UTC

Just put in the Geissele SSA-E trigger and the LWRC skirmish sights (BUIS)

Very respectable to both of you

2020-04-30 23:04:09 UTC

I wouldn't trust a wish vest...
