Hey question. So I recently saw TFBTV's video about the Australian documents showing the performance of the Steyr Aug compared to a m16 style rifle. I was curious if you guys have seen the video and what your thoughts on it where. Im not an expert on guns but I've always thought about getting a bullpup, however I have an AR because it's just common in the us and easy to aquire parts and ammo for. The steyer uses the 5.56 round and some can accept ar mags, but good luck finding parts. It seems easier to maintain as well, with it's modular barrel. What do you all think? https://youtu.be/_9NF99PG_M0

TFB is the HuffPost of the firearms industry

2020-05-02 22:57:31 UTC

there writers dont have any idea what theyre talking about 75% of the time

2020-05-02 22:57:59 UTC

I mean I’d go with a PTR before I went to an AUG

2020-05-02 22:58:32 UTC

@Crye_Salesman oh I didn't kmow that

2020-05-02 22:59:07 UTC

The AUG is a fine gun, although its a bullpup and has its own inherent problems. Saying something is better than the AR15 is nonsense though, the AUG is a specific rifle made by one company, the AR15 is not.

2020-05-02 23:02:01 UTC

Oh that makes sense. That's a good point

2020-05-02 23:03:03 UTC

I got a fostech AR cause it was steeply discounted and had the whole binary thing

2020-05-02 23:03:20 UTC

binary is gay sorry

2020-05-02 23:03:44 UTC

The AUG is one of the best bullpup rifles out there. But in comparison to the AR, it lacks.

2020-05-02 23:04:05 UTC

ARs can perform just as well, just as reliably, and with more modularity.

2020-05-02 23:16:18 UTC

AR180s are surprisingly robust

2020-05-02 23:16:42 UTC

Especially milled reciever variants

2020-05-02 23:16:57 UTC

the brownelss ar180's are cool, although as a cadadadiannn i assume you mean the OG version?

2020-05-02 23:17:20 UTC

AR180B2 is the og

2020-05-02 23:17:31 UTC

We have ever variants now

2020-05-02 23:17:35 UTC

Newer

2020-05-02 23:17:54 UTC

The AR180 is prohib
However the AR180B isn't

2020-05-02 23:17:58 UTC

Don't ask me why

2020-05-02 23:18:02 UTC

Milled aluminum or stamped steel

2020-05-02 23:19:15 UTC

Yeah explaining Canadian gun law is like try to explain what its like being fully retarded while being fully retarded

2020-05-02 23:19:32 UTC

*trying

2020-05-02 23:21:05 UTC

Kek

2020-05-02 23:21:45 UTC

lol

2020-05-02 23:21:47 UTC

I hate that an FFL07/SOT2 cannot import MGs from Canada, totally gay, considering yall have mg42s and such for cheap! But that's alright.. I have leads on parts kits that can be imported from Europe... the red tape simply boggles my mind

2020-05-02 23:22:20 UTC

@BigRed1 lemme come build semi PKM's on vltor receivers for you

2020-05-02 23:22:33 UTC

Now that sounds fun! Hahaha

2020-05-02 23:22:56 UTC

In due time.. just gotta get a storefront.. still in the basement

2020-05-02 23:23:45 UTC

i joke, but im going to a top-tier gunsmithing school in a few months, so maybe i dont joke

2020-05-02 23:24:24 UTC

We do ww2 reenacting, our biggest issue is solid running mg42s and 34s... I will be building a few in the next few years, unless I see an SOT2 going out of business, than I'll swoop em up..

2020-05-02 23:24:45 UTC

I want to go to smith school, its just not possible for me at the moment

2020-05-02 23:25:52 UTC

For the record, an FFL07/SOT2 can legally build what is called a Post sample MG, That is properly approved from the ATF, for legalities.

2020-05-02 23:26:11 UTC

yeah im fairly well tracking on the SOT stuff

2020-05-02 23:27:36 UTC

Just educating others, mods, etc

2020-05-02 23:28:45 UTC

gotcha

2020-05-02 23:29:33 UTC

well, IDK how big your business is, but if youre looking for a smith in two years HMU, either way id be happy to lend a hand tinkering with old MG's just for fun and building experience

2020-05-02 23:30:22 UTC

I'm interested in building an MG3 for research, the story behind it is neat..

When russians overtook the Rhine metal plant, they destroyed MG42 blueprints.. they had to reverse engineer the weapon.. crazy right?! Lol

2020-05-02 23:30:42 UTC

We are small now, hopefully in 2 years ill be a large storefront

2020-05-02 23:30:49 UTC

i actually didnt know that, thats wild

2020-05-02 23:33:02 UTC

I havent tracked down the info on the mg42 and 34, but ive nerded out at the TDP's and blueprints of more modern stuff
