There are little bandaids for over and under gassing, such as buffers and spring changes
See, but that’s based on the idea that a rifle can’t just...be correctly gassed.
Between an H buffer and an H3 buffer (if you buy both) you can make any weight combination available.

@Crye_Salesman
I’m aware. I simply said it’s a bandaid for a rifle that is not properly gassed.
Yeah that was directed at confused
I gotcha.
I agree with your statements above. Any overgassing is just extra wear and tear on the parts. Over-gassing leads to increased wear on the gas-rings, causing them to have leakage faster, and to be inefficient.
Well the point of overgassing a rifle, at least supposedly, is that sometimes it might not get cleaned as often as it should and it's better to let it cycle through grime a bit and let the armourer deal with the parts wear than to have it stop working in the field.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but it makes a bit of sense.
The extractor, bolt lugs, cam pin, And gas key all suffer when overgassing.

@Artemis
With a *properly tuned rifle*, none of this is an issue.
Even a properly tuned rifle can run through dirt, grime, and the likes.
I have a properly tuned rifle. I don't exactly know about military ones but i haven't heard good things
It doesn’t have to be over gassed. I see your point and where you’re coming from, however.
Yeah, pretty much the entire AR15 industry outside of like 3 companies could decrease their gas ports by 10-30% and not see a change in reliability
Even more than that if they thought out the operating system and actually considered how to make the gas drive have a wider range of pressure and still be functional, which isnt that hard
Like the hk 416, and to a lesser extent the mk18, known for being viciously over gassed, supposedly for running through whatever you throw at it.
I don't know if this was by the choice of the manufacturer or mandated by the military though.
The MK18 is a...interesting discussion.
The 416 was designed *because* those overgassed .mil guns where tearing themselves apart every 6 months in some units
FAL: here have an adjustable gas system to overcome grime and variable ammo selection
G3: lol bolt go KACHUNK, *launches brass into orbit*
Anyone have that check off list of gear that was posted here before
@Artemis the HK416’s aren’t insanely bad with the vented gas blocks. I ran one with a suppressor for a while. Granted that setup was well over 10lbs how I usually shot it, but the felt recoil was less than my m4
@[CA] SoyBoi there’s one in <#706181190528270526>, although I’d rather have a discussion of what you *actually* need
@Crye_Salesman I have almost everything, except a helmet and Hawaiian shirt, idk what to look for in a helmet
Other than that it's double checking to see if anything small fell through the cracks
ach and ech are pretty good
My main thing is I have 2 backpacks
1 is if I have time and plan on being out for a while
2 I'm building currently, where I dont have time and its merely to get me out of where I'm at
First backpack is large and bulky
Second is compact, ideally I can take the large one, but the compact is if its life or death get out now kind of deal
How much do they run? Cause I can't drop 300 on a hemlet rn lol
@[CA] SoyBoi Should be in <#704765561430605905>.
So I've put together a little kit, using a lot of Aero Precision pieces due to the recommendation of one of you fine guys in the chat here. What do you think? I also have a stripped Aero lower I'm shipping separately to FFL dealer
Altogether I'm spending less than $600 not counting sights and attachments or if my stoner senses missed something in the build
@JackLAXXX are you saying that’s your entire list? Because you’re missing a lot
Oh nooo
Please, help me. First time assembling the whole thing myself. I have the parts for the lower, the gas tube, the BCG, charge handle..what am I missing
Not a lot
You need a muzzle device
@JackLAXXX you need a muzzle device and sights if some type. That's it. Once you get it together you can figure out how you want to setup a light and foregrip.
Oh an mags. Obviously.
Anyone know around what the torque spec is for a buffer tube on a AR, and also for a compesator on a crush washer?
Tag me so I get the notification!
