If anything you have plenty of control over the health of the earth because there are things you can do in your daily life to lower your carbon footprint.

I have a deep fear that no one really cares enough about the climate to make change. It is a subject I am heavily interested in.

It's not just about climate though, it's also about health. It's not healthy to breathe in nitrogen dioxide and carbon dioxide all the time and people in big cities are surrounded by so much of it.
