Why does god torture humans? And all other life, for that matter?

2019-09-26 16:07:22 UTC

Lol the idea is demented on every level

2019-09-26 16:08:02 UTC

You worship the devil

2019-09-26 16:15:23 UTC

@Pelth No it doesn't. I can know priori arguments with absolute certainty.

2019-09-26 16:15:23 UTC

GG @Deleted User, you just advanced to level 20!

2019-09-26 16:15:45 UTC

No you can’t you ignorant fool

2019-09-26 16:15:51 UTC

Yes I can, are you dumb?

2019-09-26 16:16:08 UTC

Where are you getting this 'humans can't know something absolute'

2019-09-26 16:16:12 UTC

From what philosophy?

2019-09-26 16:17:31 UTC

@Gerry Why is the atheist stance based on faith?

2019-09-26 16:49:46 UTC

If you firmly believe that no god exists you have faith in the fact that god does not exist

2019-09-26 16:50:02 UTC

Because he has not been proven to exist

2019-09-26 16:50:13 UTC

Nor has his existence been disproven

2019-09-26 16:50:15 UTC
2019-09-26 16:52:55 UTC

@Gerry If we go by empiricial observation, we can deduct that God does not exist. If we go from various arguments such as, logical PoE, divine hiddeness, no arguments argument, etc then we can also conclude the same thing.

2019-09-26 16:54:02 UTC

But can you prove that he does not exist?

2019-09-26 16:55:06 UTC

Thats like saying there are giant marshmellows that fly around the milky way naked

2019-09-26 16:55:15 UTC

Can you prove that isnt true?

2019-09-26 16:55:23 UTC

@Gerry Yes, from those arguments.

2019-09-26 16:56:02 UTC

I mean strictly speaking

2019-09-26 16:57:05 UTC

The Bible says that god is everything and nothing

2019-09-26 16:57:25 UTC

@Gerry Yes. If p, then not p. Failure of arguments for a necessary being show otherwise.

2019-09-26 16:57:33 UTC

But it’s a paradox

2019-09-26 16:57:56 UTC

What verse?

2019-09-26 16:58:05 UTC

And what version?

2019-09-26 16:58:26 UTC

Oof I’m going to have to go through a lot of bible verses

2019-09-26 16:58:32 UTC

But it’s not in one verse

2019-09-26 16:58:43 UTC

I believe it is an interpretation

2019-09-26 16:59:15 UTC

It's not a paradox to not believe something without evidence lmao

2019-09-26 16:59:17 UTC

Yeah I'm gonna need more background, because Christians who are also in philosophy wouldn't agree with that.

2019-09-26 16:59:45 UTC

And using logic to disprove god will be hard because he defies all logic

2019-09-26 16:59:49 UTC

He is not a logical being

2019-09-26 16:59:56 UTC

He is something we cannot comprehend

2019-09-26 17:00:13 UTC

"He defies all logic"

2019-09-26 17:00:21 UTC

<:ainz:538084033410891776>

2019-09-26 17:00:22 UTC

God of Gaps.

2019-09-26 17:01:10 UTC

I mean sure

2019-09-26 17:01:23 UTC

Furthermore, I can just use Plantinga's argument.

If God is not bound by the laws of logic, then God succumbs to the simple omnipotence paradox "Can God lift a rock heavier than himself."

Plantinga got around this by saying that omnipotence is doing anything **logically** possible.

2019-09-26 17:01:38 UTC

So hence we know that God does not defy logic.

2019-09-26 17:01:58 UTC

The thing is

2019-09-26 17:02:06 UTC

There is nothing heavier than himself
