@Darkseid That was pragmatism ... it was called the "sunset clauses" ... negotiations broke down between the NP and ANC and of all improbable people it was Joe Slovo of the SACP who suggested that there would be no wholesale nationalization as above ... so the blacks would get the political power and whites would retain their economic power ... ANC gambled that they could use the state power like the Nats did to empower their voter base i.e BEE.

On the land issue there current clause in our 94 constitution do allow for EWC ... the govt did use it in very isolated cases when there was deadlock over value of land claims ... now the EFF has managed to drive it the forefront of politics.
