nice one guys
57 murders a day is a lot to handle. Compartmentalize them and then tackle each group one by one.
Its almost impossible to work out the per capita statistics since the statistics on the number of farmers in SA is very unclear
well, there are decent sources @Bruh dead bodies are easy to count, as are titles at the deeds office
I dont mean number killed i mean the pure number of farmers around
LOL! @Meerkat_RSA
so we can work out per property not per person, we could get averages of people per property based on census data
Its similar to trying to work out how vulnerable township victims are as the number of township dwellers is not clear
well townships and farms are different, most farmers have a corresponding title deed, most township dwellers don't
Not just journalism is Dying, Naspers is in big kak
At the end the media is a company they don't care if they divide the people they make money.
South Africas murder rate is not that uncommon compared to other countries
Solution : Police and security groups work together to patrol/enforce security in farm arias
It works wonders in Bela Bela
Btw im not saying its not a problem im saying its not a unique roblem
problem*
@Rendier how the 35k number for farmers are derived at is very important like you stated. If a farmer living outside Calvinia on a farm with his wife and three children, plus his mother in law counts as only 1 towards that 35 000, and the farmer and his wife and one child is murdered, then either you have to increase the 35k to also include the full family (on average multiply by 3.5 for example), or you can only count the murder as 1 murder.

lets talk
Death sentence cant be enforced with corrupt/incompetent legal/prosecution system
I agree these conversations are pointless when we got these clowns in power
you don't want a corrupt nub handling a death penalty
courts are a joke. Example : Jacob Zuma
@Stefan Yeah that was a valid point made, and one which I dont recal being brought up before. it does make a significant change to the figures per capita really, however it doesnt change any other part of the argument really, these are still first degree crimes of passion that is actively encouraged by politicians, social media and indirectly by mainstream media
Have any of yall seen the TRT interview with malema?
However, Ernsr made a good point that almost 80% of all murders are social fabric crimes, or put differently due to domestic violonce or people being killed by someone they know (either family/friend/someone who wronged them). On the other hand farm murders are almost exlusively committed by perps unknown or unrelated to the victim. If you take this into account, whatever per capita number you get to by increasing the 35k, must be compared to a normalised "non fabric murder rate" of closer to 10 or 15.
very important point stefan
we need to focus resources where they will make the most impact

There is no way of denying that farm murders are disproportional and a big problem. Just because the people advocating against farm murders might tend to skew or over exaggerate figures, or put added emotion/drama into it does not make it less of a problem. This is where I think Renaldo is getting bogged down. Also if "the right" keeps harping about farm murders, it becomes a "us vs them" scenario (meaning Afrikaner vs the rest of SA, put in black if you like). Also not necessarily a good thing if you are supposed to feel sorry about everything else such as white priviledge etc.
@Deleted User the plan isn't to follow logic. the plan is to follow this playbook:
Although the bourgeoisie has been overthrown, it is still trying to use the old ideas, culture, customs, and habits of the exploiting classes to corrupt the masses, capture their minds, and stage a comeback. The proletariat must do just the opposite: It must meet head-on every challenge of the bourgeoisie [...] to change the outlook of society. Currently, our objective is to struggle against and crush those people in authority who are taking the capitalist road, to criticize and repudiate the reactionary bourgeois academic "authorities" and the ideology of the bourgeoisie and all other exploiting classes and to transform education, literature and art, and all other parts of the superstructure that do not correspond to the socialist economic base, so as to facilitate the consolidation and development of the socialist system.
they should name the munitions factory that exploded after winnie
