Why are dogs so racist?

I know my grandmothers dog is very racist, even from a puppy

he would avoid black people like the plague, but doesn't have any problems with white people

although I think that was just from bad treatment from black people, when we got him, he was in a pretty small cage with like 7 other dogs, all of them cowered when the cage was opened and we got him from a black owned pet store
