Knives are useful. Not just for a defence.

Make sure you know the laws of knife carry in your region. Some places have the most idiotic bans on knife types

The way I look at it is if you were stuck on a island what one tool would you like to have?

Live in Florida currently, for some reason I doubt that we have many laws against knives

Also don't be stupid with it, don't do the tacticool carry. because police won't be kind to you in that case

I was at the air once and had my knife in my main bag. My name came over the sound system. They had a lot to say to me and said they were going to take my knife as evidence. I went to gab it out of their hand coz my knife means a lot to me and they pointed a loaded fucking machine gun at my head. That was quite a felling.

I'm rather proud of the diligence I've developed when dealing with my handgun. Any time I handle it, I instinctively check if it's loaded or unloaded.

If I keep up this level of paranoia, I may be able to stave off the 'inevitable' negligent discharge.

Also, closest thing I've had to an ND, I got put in an awkward situation by a range owner... First time at their range with my new handgun. I'm practicing, familiarizing myself with my first handgun, and the range owner calls cease fire, calls me over.

Next thing I know, he's flung a snake about 10 feet away from me.

Outside the context of the range, I *could* have had my first ND. After dealing with the snake, I turned away, and realized I still had my finger on the trigger.
