Actually, I think California has or is trying to decriminalize that kind of stuff. Knowingly exposing someone to HIV is no longer a felony over there.

but at what cost? Exposing innocent people to it?

The keyword here they seem to be ignoring is *knowingly* infecting someone with HIV without telling them you have it.
Maybe they should have done it with mental illness then
I mean, I remember Jordan Peterson theorizing that it was cause most mental illnesses that would have landed people in an assylum would be politically incorrect to well "correct".
