Where does a moral society come from? @EYEFORKNOWLEDGE156

2020-04-06 20:49:39 UTC

@Mr.Fisch(炫龙) Following God in all His glory and wishes

2020-04-06 20:49:52 UTC

Omge

2020-04-06 20:49:55 UTC

If you don't need a government to instill morality in people, which is what you really presuppose, then why do you think that you badly need one later?

2020-04-06 20:50:59 UTC

I am not talking about punishing literal faggotry and abortion (the latter of which is clearly homicide). People managed to keep that kind of immorality in check just fine in the past, without needing an intrusive government.

2020-04-06 20:51:07 UTC

Without an authority to tell people “no this is bad” people will naturally gravitate towards “bad” things

As I mentioned previously, we see this with homosexuality, abortion, rape, murder, etc

2020-04-06 20:51:35 UTC

In countries where those aren’t punished, the rate of crimes surge up

2020-04-06 20:51:41 UTC

@AH-64 because people were more religious in the past that’s why it was kept in check

2020-04-06 20:51:44 UTC

Why do you speak of "telling" people what is wrong? We are not discussing communicative actions here, but coercion.

2020-04-06 20:51:52 UTC

the natural entropy of society must be fought!

2020-04-06 20:51:56 UTC

Because that’s how it must be done

2020-04-06 20:52:31 UTC

The Church has been this authority for over a thousand years, and it was seldom very coercive. Even the Spanish Institution was largely a joke.

2020-04-06 20:52:37 UTC

That’s how God did it, that’s how Kings of old did it, that’s how authoritarians and fascists did it, why shouldn’t that be how we do it

2020-04-06 20:53:15 UTC

I seriously hope you don't have the Nazis in mind. Half the SA were homosexuals.

2020-04-06 20:53:24 UTC

@here want to do vc?

2020-04-06 20:54:00 UTC

They also sponsored abortion and forced sterilization, looted monasteries, and openly spread heresies. I found three of them in a single children's book.

2020-04-06 20:55:07 UTC

BASED

2020-04-06 20:55:33 UTC

hm in another one right now

2020-04-06 20:55:35 UTC

This disgusts me.

Not even God magically hit every thief and fornicator with lightning. He reserves a lot of punishment for the afterlife, or He deals with it through providence, making people suffer the consequences of their sins.

2020-04-06 20:55:56 UTC

There’s something called the Laws of Moses

2020-04-06 20:56:00 UTC

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

2020-04-06 20:56:09 UTC

It instructed God’s people themselves to punish sinners

2020-04-06 20:56:12 UTC

Usually by death

2020-04-06 20:56:47 UTC

Thus culling the spiteful mutants and other degenerates

2020-04-06 20:56:48 UTC

I brought a good quote today

2020-04-06 20:56:51 UTC

“For every Monarchy overthrown the sky becomes less brilliant, because it loses a star. A Republic is ugliness set free.”

- Anatole France

2020-04-06 20:57:07 UTC

Yes!

2020-04-06 20:57:21 UTC

And yet, the Christians didn't follow it to the letter. For example, they were one of the few groups who did not execute adulterers, in the first few centuries after Christ.

2020-04-06 20:58:01 UTC

And I’m suggesting we bring that policy, or something similar to it back

Even if we can be more lenient about it, this degeneracy cannot run rampant

2020-04-06 20:59:03 UTC

That's because Christ elevated the Mosaic Laws to a spiritual level. We are no longer required to punish punish every transgression in this world, or at least with the old severity. We do not stone adulterers, because we know that they already bring death upon themselves.

2020-04-06 20:59:58 UTC

So why shouldn’t we just stone them now?

2020-04-06 21:00:20 UTC

Crush your enemies with an iron fist

2020-04-06 21:00:21 UTC

You can, if you are without sin :^)

2020-04-06 21:00:47 UTC

You don’t have to be without sin you just can’t be degenerate

2020-04-06 21:01:07 UTC

John 8:7 says something else

2020-04-06 21:01:10 UTC

2020-04-06 21:01:30 UTC

Even if that passage is spurious, it has been given great weight in the tradition of the Church.

2020-04-06 21:03:04 UTC

Ehhh. That is completely out of context

2020-04-06 21:03:41 UTC

The degeneracy around us is, in part, directly sponsored by the state. In part, it came about because, while the state did not sponsor it, it curbed the Church in its greed for power. To give the state more power does not sound like a smart move to me, with that in mind.

2020-04-06 21:03:44 UTC

I believe it is in acts or romans that they talk about the mosaic law is not applicable
