I am not talking about punishing literal faggotry and abortion (the latter of which is clearly homicide). People managed to keep that kind of immorality in check just fine in the past, without needing an intrusive government.
Without an authority to tell people “no this is bad” people will naturally gravitate towards “bad” things
As I mentioned previously, we see this with homosexuality, abortion, rape, murder, etc
In countries where those aren’t punished, the rate of crimes surge up
@AH-64 because people were more religious in the past that’s why it was kept in check
Why do you speak of "telling" people what is wrong? We are not discussing communicative actions here, but coercion.
the natural entropy of society must be fought!
Because that’s how it must be done
The Church has been this authority for over a thousand years, and it was seldom very coercive. Even the Spanish Institution was largely a joke.
That’s how God did it, that’s how Kings of old did it, that’s how authoritarians and fascists did it, why shouldn’t that be how we do it
I seriously hope you don't have the Nazis in mind. Half the SA were homosexuals.
@here want to do vc?
They also sponsored abortion and forced sterilization, looted monasteries, and openly spread heresies. I found three of them in a single children's book.
BASED
hm in another one right now
This disgusts me.
Not even God magically hit every thief and fornicator with lightning. He reserves a lot of punishment for the afterlife, or He deals with it through providence, making people suffer the consequences of their sins.
There’s something called the Laws of Moses
Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
It instructed God’s people themselves to punish sinners
Usually by death
I brought a good quote today
“For every Monarchy overthrown the sky becomes less brilliant, because it loses a star. A Republic is ugliness set free.”
- Anatole France
Yes!
And yet, the Christians didn't follow it to the letter. For example, they were one of the few groups who did not execute adulterers, in the first few centuries after Christ.
And I’m suggesting we bring that policy, or something similar to it back
Even if we can be more lenient about it, this degeneracy cannot run rampant
That's because Christ elevated the Mosaic Laws to a spiritual level. We are no longer required to punish punish every transgression in this world, or at least with the old severity. We do not stone adulterers, because we know that they already bring death upon themselves.
So why shouldn’t we just stone them now?
Crush your enemies with an iron fist
You can, if you are without sin :^)
You don’t have to be without sin you just can’t be degenerate
John 8:7 says something else
Even if that passage is spurious, it has been given great weight in the tradition of the Church.
Ehhh. That is completely out of context
The degeneracy around us is, in part, directly sponsored by the state. In part, it came about because, while the state did not sponsor it, it curbed the Church in its greed for power. To give the state more power does not sound like a smart move to me, with that in mind.
I believe it is in acts or romans that they talk about the mosaic law is not applicable
And who controls the state?
The Epistle to the Hebrews, too
Who funds it, who orders it, who makes it tick?
Who is the man behind the curtain?
