In an interesting turn of events, Tim happened to give probably the best 'pro choice' argument I think I've heard.

2018-09-05 03:35:14 UTC

It's the usual libertarian stance.

2018-09-05 03:35:23 UTC

It's actually pretty close to my personal stance, actually.

2018-09-05 03:35:25 UTC

Oh, I'm all for protecting life. But not just in utero. Cradle to grave.

2018-09-05 03:35:34 UTC

It's pretty close to my own, as well

2018-09-05 03:35:42 UTC

except I come at it from a conservative libertarian stance

2018-09-05 03:36:14 UTC

the interesting thing is seeing his angle, and noting the subtleties.

2018-09-05 03:36:25 UTC

I'm really apathetic on abortion, TBH

2018-09-05 03:36:28 UTC

the differences, and realizing that's where politics needs to go back to.

2018-09-05 03:37:13 UTC

I think it's absolutely a valid fear as far as the Conservative side of things goes

2018-09-05 03:37:22 UTC

that they might actually try to ban ALL forms of abortion.

2018-09-05 03:37:37 UTC

And I'm not for that, either.

2018-09-05 03:38:34 UTC

Abortion needs to be a procedure considered solemnly, like surgery or chemo.

2018-09-05 03:39:09 UTC

I absolutely don't think an organization like Planned Parenthood takes it sufficiently seriously, especially given it's roots.

2018-09-05 03:39:39 UTC

And the fanaticism surrounding the process is absolutely top-tier disgusting.

2018-09-05 03:42:11 UTC

Oh, PP getting public money I'm against. I'm not really for anyone getting public money like that without good cause.

2018-09-05 03:42:39 UTC

Can also agree that if it's surgery, it needs to be treated as such. We've somehow it a point where surgery is treated rather flippantly overall.

2018-09-05 03:42:42 UTC

im not for paying for another individuals mistakes

2018-09-05 03:42:50 UTC

I dont mind helping victims of rape however

2018-09-05 03:42:50 UTC

I don't know where this new blasé attitude toward abortion came from. It's bizarre.

2018-09-05 03:43:17 UTC

@GingaBomber I'm of the stance, that in the case of rape, it should be paid as part of the punishment.

2018-09-05 03:43:33 UTC

I dont mind helping the person.

2018-09-05 03:43:38 UTC

Not exactly the

2018-09-05 03:43:48 UTC

Payment part? Well, its part of paying damages

2018-09-05 03:44:17 UTC

But what if the woman decides to keep the child?

2018-09-05 03:44:28 UTC

And its a false accusation?

2018-09-05 03:46:55 UTC

If it's a false accusation things get much harder. Part of the issue is that if you just subsidize it, you create an incentive to lie.

2018-09-05 04:56:10 UTC

From what I've read, bans fail to reduce abortion rates.

2018-09-05 05:50:57 UTC

In communist Romania, it caused health problens

2018-09-05 05:51:10 UTC

Including a spike in Hep C rates

2018-09-05 06:21:32 UTC

Yes and that is why you want a 3 party abortion system where you have to talk to a "pro life" faction that wants to save the child.

2018-09-05 06:21:38 UTC

Than 72h to think about that

2018-09-05 06:21:45 UTC

and THEN you might (or not) get the Abortion

2018-09-05 06:28:56 UTC

Id argue to just privatise the whole thing

2018-09-05 06:29:08 UTC

I dont want to pay tax dollars for this.

2018-09-05 06:29:28 UTC

Then of course we get the american healthcare, which is also a joke

2018-09-05 06:30:10 UTC

Yeah you still need a "neutral" instance in that shit so that it doesn't get crazier...

2018-09-05 06:30:19 UTC

as for abortions: Aren't most aborted childs black?

2018-09-05 07:39:43 UTC

I don't think so. However, most planned parenthood centres are placed near black areas.

2018-09-05 07:40:26 UTC

I like the idea of the crisis health centres. They talk to the patients, offers them other methods, before giving the abortion.

2018-09-05 14:31:20 UTC

Yes, it's about supporting a culture of life. Discouraging the termination of pregnancies and then wanting to be "hands off" from there out isn't a pro-life stance, in my opinion.
