It'll be interesting to see if the American people are willing to be personally inconvenienced and stick it through
If it happens, and if we actually get the win we defined was the goal at the start of the conflict and not some bs that Trump calls a win but isn't, then I'll agree that Pres Trump is on the upper end of American Presidents
That would be an amazing landing to stick
So far the jury is still very much out
I'm not sure if the trade war is so unjustified.
I'm not saying it is or is not justified. China has been abusing their WTO privileges.
China has received many trade benefits that were meant for 3d/2nd world countries. As their economy matured, it might be justified to change that balance.
Right.
Agreed
That said, wars have casualties
Actually, it might even turn out for the better for Chinese.
It might. I think China, even under fascism, would be better off working collaboratively with the world
If they have pressures to focus on domestic markets, both labor and living conditions might improve, in order to stimulate such a demand.
No?
Agreed
It would follow patterns that were not entirely dissimilar in the west.
I'm just not sure if that is how it'll work out
a trade war is an attempt to damage another countries economy at a faster pace than your own. but there is no mistake that you are hurting your own economy
It all depends on whether the American public will tolerate the pain
Hmm, like chemotherapy
Do you kill the cancer before you kill yourself
I guess we'll see.
Metals are the basis for heavy industry. So the side effect of the tarrifs is we get our own aluminum and steel production back
And we stave off globalist control over basic materials, and make China be more careful in some of their policies.
If they make us unhappy, we might be even tougher at the trade negotiation table.
It's genius.
We'll see
Things will get more expensive, likely more quickly than salaries
That's what is damaging.
Boo hoo.
So our already over self pleasuring civilization gets slightly less ikea furniture, and designer sneakers.
But our nation's ability to build things for ourselves gets stronger.
I think that's a decent trade off.
Possibly
There are some things we are just not in a good position to build ourselves
I'm in a good position to weather it
Just from the cost of shipping materials
But there are a lot of people who will be shocked, SHOCKED, at paying about $1500 more for their new 80" LED TV.
Rather than processing them on sight first
@Grenade123 why does anyone "need"an 80 inch tv?
Eh.
Amerifats are watching too much teeveez anyway.
That said, China is notorious for using subsidizes to fuck with market prices
They don't? I didn't make a comment about tvs
But we need cars, and cars are already too expensive
Yes. What China has done is take that "control means of production" mantra and supersize it.
They incentivize everyone to move production onto their soil.
If people don't get wise to this, they could end up being the only nation with a major ability to produce objects.
Not good.
@Grenade123 comment was tagged to the wrong person. My bad
Hence why I said China is notorious for using government government to mess with market prices.
Not saying the trade war is bad. But a war is a war. It's not just not being able to get a new 80" tv.
