because no matter how thoroughly you debunk them or dismantle their reasoning, they fundamentally rely on emotional appeals and dogwhistles

I think if we talk to them and expose how much of their ideas sounds like shit we could do it

their message, even if factually wrong, appeals very effectively to general population, who don't really think very deeply about what they believe

Progressivism is the opposite of conservatism, and therefore when conservative ideas are being discussed, they are in conflict and opposition to progressive ones. Being opposed to certain kinds of progressivism does not make you an ethno-nationalist

No, because what is conservative today is what was progressive yesterday, by it's nature there are conservative thinkers who are for immigration, but are against the rampant unchecked influx of immigration due to the impracticalities and racial tensions it causes
