Rick Scott is such a butt head

2018-10-30 23:24:05 UTC

Yes, there are a lot of frightened people out there. That said we got really stupid as a nation with opioids.

2018-10-30 23:24:07 UTC

He actually thinks he’s a doctor

2018-10-30 23:24:23 UTC

Yes, two of my cousins are drug addicts

2018-10-30 23:24:41 UTC

But, two other are vets who now cannot get the meds they need

2018-10-30 23:24:56 UTC

Opioids need to be used responsibly and we forgot that from about 1995 through about 2015

2018-10-30 23:25:11 UTC

While my drug addicted cousins get drug rehab over and over again

2018-10-30 23:26:52 UTC

And now the health insurance companies aren’t covering the drugs, the chain pharmacies refuse to fill them and the mom and pop shoppers get all the pain scripts, which looks suspicious to the DEA. I don’t know what the answer is?

2018-10-30 23:28:57 UTC

Sorry to be a downer. I had to ask. Return to your normal conversations now 👍🏻

2018-10-30 23:29:29 UTC

No, this is an important conversation to have.

2018-10-30 23:29:58 UTC

Absolutely. Very timely.

2018-10-30 23:30:12 UTC

And Cat, the sad thing about the 10th Amendment is, the ones who uphold it will always be at a disadvantage to those who ignore it.

2018-10-30 23:30:22 UTC

Yeah

2018-10-30 23:30:48 UTC

Look at Goldwater. Amazing man. Totally comitted to the rights and freedoms of individuals.

2018-10-30 23:30:54 UTC

Got blown out by that crook Johnson.

2018-10-30 23:30:54 UTC

You should speak with Rye.

2018-10-30 23:31:24 UTC

He's so absolutely in favor of federalism you have to suspect he might be a separatist at times.

2018-10-30 23:31:42 UTC

But he's got lots of arguments and history in his head about the 10th.

2018-10-30 23:31:45 UTC

As far as opioids, I see much of the problem that we don't want providers to actually spend time with patients anymore. If we have to see 6 patients an hour then the way to do it is give people in pain opioids and people with colds antibiotics. We get what we pay for - an opioid epidemic and superbugs.

2018-10-30 23:32:33 UTC

Very true, cat.

2018-10-30 23:33:39 UTC

You are a cool cat

2018-10-30 23:33:55 UTC

Patients come in demanding those meds and will literally scream at us about bad care when we don't. Since with many insurances we're paid based on quality measures which include satisfaction, there's a perverse incentive to just prescribe whatever as long as it's relatively cheap. Give everyone opioids and antibiotics and you get paid more and the insurance company is happy with you and your patients say good things.

2018-10-30 23:34:52 UTC

Actually dig into what patients *really* need and they hate you, the insurance fires you, and you can't pay off your $200,000 in student loans

2018-10-30 23:35:28 UTC

Yeah. Used to be a doctor told patients what they need.

2018-10-30 23:35:35 UTC

Now patients think they can tell doctors what they want.

2018-10-30 23:36:11 UTC

Well, that's what the pharma companies tell them during every single &*(#% commercial break.

2018-10-30 23:36:36 UTC

Sigh

2018-10-30 23:37:12 UTC

Entitlement is one of the more negative aspects of a democratic system.

2018-10-30 23:37:38 UTC

"I get to choose the government, you think you can defy me?"

2018-10-30 23:45:30 UTC

That’s awful! I could never imagine yelling and demanding drugs or anything else from a doctor. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that

2018-10-30 23:46:28 UTC

So, bookworm, do you think if people did t have a choice they wouldn’t be demanding? I’m not asking this in a condescending tone.

2018-10-30 23:52:03 UTC

Democratic entitlement would be resolved if we made citizens have to work to earn the right to vote.

2018-10-30 23:59:22 UTC

Sounds like you read Jerry Pournelle and his Codominion stories. Not sure if people would ever vote to lose the franchise.

2018-10-31 00:03:33 UTC

the war on drugs has done nothings but put political prisoners in jail, and decimate whole communities for having the gall to get addicted to something that is addictive.

2018-10-31 00:03:45 UTC

they call it a health crisis and treat it like a crime wave

2018-10-31 00:03:54 UTC

pick one

2018-10-31 00:04:02 UTC

^^

2018-10-31 00:07:11 UTC

People want to put shit in their body, fine. But if you are selling something without making known dangers known to the buy, you are lying of omission and i would be fine being considered an illegal act. everything else, let the states decide

2018-10-31 00:07:51 UTC

alcohol: okay
Nicotine: okay
Pot: not okay

logic found: none

2018-10-31 00:08:00 UTC

Close guess, I got the idea from Heinlein. But yeah, the only way that could come into being is if there was a civil war and the entire government was reformed.

2018-10-31 00:08:04 UTC

politics found: lots
