so then sperm is not part of me, otherwise it would not naturally come out of me. And fair enough.
Oh bummer. I have work and will miss the debate over "when does life start". 😦
Don't worry, you have like 72 hours to get back
@Grenade123 does that mean hair is also not a part of you?
@DrYuriMom can always bring it when you feel like, i'm always interested in when the moral concept of life starts for people, and if can find a balance between the science and the emotion where they align
@JumperCzech i guess? although i don't think hair is alive
Well idk mate
What is your position on the issue, Grenade?
Here's the thing
I think life is not related to the things needed to create it.
Once created its different from anything else
Whether it be a clone or whatever
A clone might have a completely different perspective on life and personality if they had different lives as children
That is how identical twins work, I believe, yes.
The DNA of a fertilized egg is different from that of the mother and father
Therefor its human life
Just becuase it requires the mother to get to be self sustaining does not mean it's a part of the mother
By that metric, could I take some of my muscle tissue and rearrange the genetic structure to create a new human life?
An egg and sperm cell does not have DNA that is different from which the cell originates.
@Bookworm probably close to most people here, something to be avoided at all possible but conflicted. Which is why i'm interested in when life that is considered full human starts.
"Just becuase it requires the mother to get to be self sustaining does not mean it's a part of the mother"
but that does make it a parasite
Never said it wasn't?
I'm sorry, Grenade, I was asking your position on when life began. What are you talking about when you're saying something is to be avoided if at all possible?
It acts as a parasite would
no, but if i have the choice to attach a parasite, why do i lose the choice to remove it?
@Bookworm story, this started on abortion. and i believe abortion is not a form of birth control
Becuase you dont have the choice to attach one
although avoiding creating human life at all possible would solve all human problems
can't have human problems without humans.
I supppose by a strict definition yes (though one could argue the part of 'at the host's expense').
As I stated earlier, having sex is like signing a contract
Going offline soon, see you when I can.
If the girl gets pregnant than you have a baby
you have the choice to attach a parasite. you can take a leech and let it attach.
having sex is that same choice, although it includes making the leech too.
now, a leech can live without a host, a developing human cannot.
Having sex is not attaching a parasite
well, not until about 7 months anyway (or was it 6?)
Its signing a contract
Even then, Grenade, a human is dependant on aid for its survival for at least several years, and usually far longer.
