the only question i have is the different rules around the electors votes. some have them vote whatever they want, others are winner of the popular in the state takes all. i don't know if there is one that splits them up roughly off the popular results. like 60 40 if that was the popular

also electors can technically vote freely but I don't think they ever really do, pretty sure most states have repercussions if they do

well obviously it would only matter in close elections. but i wonder if it would chance much how candidates would campaign

it might actually change that substantially

because electoral votes to population would be roughly equal across the entire country

so campaigning would be roughly balanced

it would also mean that traditionally blue/red states would get at least a little bit more campaigning

so they could at least win some votes

the main problem i have with winner takes all is that, take for example cali, a republican might as well not vote

so i wonder if removing those rules would help make votes matter a little more, while still preventing mob rule by balancing the states with the electors
