i guess to be fair, he does still point out they are technically capitalist, but regulated for the people "but they regulate their markets democratically, in the public interest, and they have robust safety nets and keep their government accountable to people, not to corporate interests"

2018-05-24 13:16:37 UTC

robust safety nets

Last year the dutch government voted to abolish referendums

2018-05-24 13:16:42 UTC

Well, we ARE Capitalist and free market

2018-05-24 13:17:01 UTC

and Netherlands is a haven for tax-evasion, cuz we only charge like 1% for large corporations, so they settle here and bring jobs

2018-05-24 13:17:53 UTC

although, he answer is not entirely useless. By conflating cronyism with free markets (which really are not at all the same), and socialism with generally safety nets (if the country can afford it), he does answer the question in what i would say is kind of correct

2018-05-24 13:18:36 UTC

but just because he shows where the misunderstandings are between these terms, which would probably lead to kids being socialist

2018-05-24 13:19:12 UTC

i don't recall laborers in america being socialists though,
Its more the college-wealthy that do it

2018-05-24 13:19:35 UTC

that and the typical freeloaders

2018-05-24 13:20:35 UTC

at lot of kids are in college

2018-05-24 13:20:35 UTC

I'm in india so forgive me for any tunnel vison. But from what i've seen, the actual working class don't really care for socialists or anarchists

2018-05-24 13:20:50 UTC

because we were sold the lie that you need to go to college to get a job.

2018-05-24 13:21:07 UTC

well, its not a lie tbh

2018-05-24 13:21:13 UTC

no, its a lie

2018-05-24 13:21:23 UTC

nah, you just not have to follow a shitty degree

2018-05-24 13:21:35 UTC

work experience out-ways college education.

2018-05-24 13:22:43 UTC

there are some fields, that do pay well, that need college degrees. But between trade jobs being "frowned upon" (and some jobs that really could be trade jobs, like software engineering, being given as college course) and some college degrees just being completely saturated now (like nursing), its a lie

2018-05-24 13:23:03 UTC

there are trade jobs that pay just as much as a college level course because we have no one to do them

2018-05-24 13:23:18 UTC

let me rephrase myself and prove you right too

The issue is two-fold

A. People are taught to look down on tradesmen, which is getting more lucrative cuz not many people are tradesmen
B. People are taugth that an office-job is the place to be, Offices are from big companies who want ensurance taht you're capable to do your job, hence they demand a college degree

Hence people are told to get a job you need college
But they're not told that like 60% of all college educations are useless for getting a job because their field has no use for that many applicants

2018-05-24 13:24:02 UTC

actually, he missed a point in why they want "socialism". They have a bleak outlook of paying so much money to college for a degree that won't pay them enough to cover more than the interest on their loans.

2018-05-24 13:24:36 UTC

Well, I can say from my personal experience that if you wanna go to STEM fields, like I did, or other research fields, College is an imperative. However, stuff like Liberal Arts and Gender studies courses leave lots of students with no job prospects

2018-05-24 13:25:05 UTC

They would have used their time in a much better way if they went to trade schools.

2018-05-24 13:25:05 UTC

@Deleted User most STEM fields, but not all. specifically the tech ones.

2018-05-24 13:25:12 UTC

Yes, Tech ones

2018-05-24 13:25:18 UTC

those you can get away without college education

2018-05-24 13:25:29 UTC

you can learn all you need to know from the internet and working under someone

2018-05-24 13:25:40 UTC

he missed a lot of things

Low wages are the result of there being more supply than demand for workers (illegals, low skilled plebs)
So companies don't have to raise wages to attract people, they can pick any pleb and demand low wages because if you dont like it they'll just pick someone else

And with that high supply of labor-fit people, that can't get a job, you get high taxes because someone has to pay for their welfare whilst they look for a new job

2018-05-24 13:25:58 UTC

'for you ten others'

2018-05-24 13:25:59 UTC

Well, you can learn, sure. But when I went into interviews, they wanted my degree first

2018-05-24 13:26:15 UTC

I'm a software engineer.

2018-05-24 13:26:19 UTC

so am i

2018-05-24 13:26:28 UTC

shipped products would have had greater value

2018-05-24 13:26:31 UTC

me also, though specialised in computer game development

2018-05-24 13:26:34 UTC

without that, my education is all i had

2018-05-24 13:26:50 UTC

@Dr.Wol same. although my full degree was officially computer science

2018-05-24 13:26:59 UTC

you know anything about opengl?

2018-05-24 13:27:39 UTC

I'm an Mtech, so we may be different

2018-05-24 13:27:40 UTC

had to deal with it, prefer opentk

2018-05-24 13:27:56 UTC

how well versed are you in opentk? 😛

2018-05-24 13:28:34 UTC

god, haven't used it in probably like 3 years. but i might be able to give you a hand if you want to DM at some point
