Because there was an uptick in Democrats leaving the Democratic party in the 70s, it's a misunderstood belief that the democrats and the republicans switched places.
What is the best argument against the party switch
One i heard is a majority of dem and repub senators kept their positions
Around the time of the purported switch
Dems have always been racist, but overt racism fell out of fashion so they had to go with covert racism
In part, likely.
And thus, the double think began
So heres the question
Projection.
What is the best argument against the whole party switch myth
It shouldn't be presumed that your average democrat voter is an obvious racist.
And I havent even gotten a proper timeframe
"well be anti-racist but we will tell people they can only think a certain way based on their race! I mean, we already know that is true. Those fithy nigs."
All I hear is, party switched
when I ask when
I dont get answers
It's really hard to give a full scope of the subtleties of historical US politics in the context of an answer.
I am not sure as to how old those images are, only the first had a date and someone's name tied to it
Clymer's a dem according to wikipedia. Geary... Listed as both for some reason
Examination of the source brings me to the Library of Congress
Verifying that it's real.
The ad? IS there a date in congress?
I seen that. I should see it again
Blame Nixon,
Also look up Strom Thurman, leader of the Dixie Democrat movement
I think that's actually well cited and the best rebuttal that can be made
I think it would be cool if Tim interviewed Denis. They both talk about the cultural civil war a lot.
It's far easier to prove something DID happen if it did than to prove something DIDN'T happen if it didn't.
If you're trying to prove that the switch happened, you'd point to the current fact that confederate states tend to lean right.
The real switch is that the Democrats are still racist but now they support minorities instead of whites.
Basically, yes.
It'd be far more accurate to note that the playbook is what hasn't changed.
The Democrat Party are far more likely to make emotional appeals of doom and gloom if things don't go their way
The DNC "switched the frosting" on there hate cakes.
They argued in favor of Slavery citing the economic danger of losing the free labor
