But I agree that being wrongly accused of being pedophile is probably one of the worst thing that can happen to someone

2018-09-11 11:10:58 UTC

seek help in a society that would immediately shun you?

2018-09-11 11:11:34 UTC

Paedophiles should seek private psychiatric advice

2018-09-11 11:11:36 UTC

I think articles like this are attempting to frame our natural reaction to pedophiles as the problem. Society doesn’t have the problem. The people that want to fuck children do.

2018-09-11 11:11:46 UTC

"Specialised help". Im not talking about going to your coworker and saying "Hey man, i think im pedo"

2018-09-11 11:12:09 UTC

where do you go to ask "hey, where can i get help with my pedophilic urges" that would not immediately result in the police being called and you ending up on a list mandating you stay several miles away from any place for children?

2018-09-11 11:12:18 UTC

Normalisation of paedophilia is terrible, yeah. But if they're gonna stop themselves BEFORE they do a crime? That's admirable, that they recognise it's a problem and want to deal with it

2018-09-11 11:12:32 UTC

"I have murderous urges" wouldn't throw you in jail

2018-09-11 11:12:39 UTC

Actually being violent would

2018-09-11 11:13:00 UTC

no, but would anyone still like to be near you?

2018-09-11 11:13:10 UTC

and we treat child rapists as even worse than murders

2018-09-11 11:13:23 UTC

If someone will get mental breakdown, start hearing morderous voices, and that person choose not to seek help. Should i also have sympathy fot them If they kill someone?

2018-09-11 11:13:34 UTC

even prison inmates will want to kill you.

2018-09-11 11:13:54 UTC

It like trying to frame people’s negative reactions to people who fantasize about killing people. Yeah. You are stigmatized. You’re also a dangerous lunatic that nobody wants to be around. Regardless if you act on it or not. Sorry that makes you sad Ted Bundy

2018-09-11 11:14:32 UTC

but still, i don't see signs for the "pedophile rehabilitation center" anywhere. So while yes, they should be able to get help. But currently there is no real safe way to ask. so yeah, there is no where to go.

2018-09-11 11:16:05 UTC

we treat pedophilia as a society as feminists treated me too.

2018-09-11 11:16:14 UTC

look at Gunn.

2018-09-11 11:16:24 UTC

Ofc there are no places like that, that doesnt mean you cannot seek help of psychiatrist.

2018-09-11 11:16:49 UTC

and what reason would you believe they are different than everyone else around you on this subject?

2018-09-11 11:17:06 UTC

don't think like a third party, imagine being them

2018-09-11 11:17:44 UTC

one word to anyone around you and they will be gone, shun you, believe you acted on your urges even if you didn't, or watched CP which is a crime and therefore you are a criminal

2018-09-11 11:18:09 UTC

they might even call the police on you, accusing you of these things so police will be searching all over your house.

2018-09-11 11:18:22 UTC

and you wonder why they feel like they have no where to go?

2018-09-11 11:18:46 UTC

like you are going to trust a complete stranger only interested in your money to keep a secret like that?

2018-09-11 11:19:15 UTC

its like going to a psychiatrist to confess a murder in their mind

2018-09-11 11:19:41 UTC

Psychiatrists are professionally trained and meant to be objective but if you're hounded and told you're evil before you've even done anything for something you can't help, you'll resign yourself to that mindset. Paedophiles are not criminals until they commit a crime. By encouraging they seek treatment you can save a life instead of let them ruin someone else's

2018-09-11 11:19:42 UTC

As I said- for me its same as feeling urge to kill someone. If you choose not to seek help if that happen to you, then thats on you. Yeah- its tragic we cannot control our mental health, but looking for help to get better is matter of personal responsibility

2018-09-11 11:19:52 UTC

I feel you there

2018-09-11 11:23:52 UTC

you can encourage them, and this assumes Psychiatry even works for them, it might very well not do jack shit. But imagine if word got out that their Psychiatrist is treating a self-declared pedo.

2018-09-11 11:25:06 UTC

this is all that is running through their head, meanwhile our only response to them is "well, Psychiatry is the best we got, go talk to one and hope it works and also hope no one finds out, especially your loved ones, why you need to see a psychiatrist"

2018-09-11 11:33:23 UTC

All im saying os that is their resposibility to seek help, and its true. And there are therapies for those ppl. What then is your alternative to that? Not trying to seek help in fear of your doctor breaking medical secret? If they rather not to seek help, just because they are scared of that- then thats on them and only them if they commit crime.

2018-09-11 11:35:39 UTC

And there are ppl who actually seek help before they did anything wrong. There are actual programs that can help those people.

“ Redefining pedophilia with pedophile’s help “ by Tracy Clark-Flory on Salon

This article describes a group of “ minor- attracted persons “ trying to manipulate the revision of the diagnostic criteria for pedophiles as a “ motley crew” . Also describes pedophilia as a “ sexual orientation “ . This is an old article, but it shows us how long this agenda has been pushed in left wing circles.

We said this would happen with the whole sexual liberation thing but people dismissed it as a slippery slope fallacy.

2018-09-11 12:19:06 UTC

Kind of assumed the next step would be legalization of polygamy. They could use the religious freedom angle.

2018-09-11 12:19:39 UTC

But I guess they haven't exactly been facing much opposition so why not go for broke?

2018-09-11 12:46:05 UTC

@bitels I never said they shouldn't or can't. But your original statement was "I don't get why he said 'there's nowhere to go with it'". I'm giving you a possible idea going through their head that is preventing them from seeking help. And it's gonna be hard to get them to seek help if they refuse to tell anyone for fear of backlash. It's a vicious cycle with no good solution outside of trying to drive a wedge in the public conscious between those who have the urges and those who act on them. And that is getting dangerously close to normalizing it.

2018-09-11 12:48:31 UTC

@Atkins why would the legalization of polygamy come next when pedophilia was already pretty okay in religious circles. I mean, it's not pedophilia when the child is married to the rapist. There are still states that allow child brides. Then there is the problems in the church.
