Gab isn't really competition though; at least in the same vein as FB and Twitter.
They explicity cater to a niche audience. Plus their platform of allowing most things to go through (as long as it isn't explicit law-breaking) really doesn't attract a large audience; because people are familiar with the net and know that it essentially translates to vicious bullying and harrassment running wild
