Usually that's just your driver's license.

2019-01-27 23:07:25 UTC

The only other common photo ID is Passports though

2019-01-27 23:07:27 UTC

However, there are IDs that you can get that are not simultaneously driver's licenses.

2019-01-27 23:07:39 UTC

Iunno if those have reduced fees, but they might.

2019-01-27 23:07:45 UTC

Again, dependent on jurisdiction.

2019-01-27 23:08:14 UTC

However, 99% of people have ID and carry it pretty much everywhere, and at least 90% of those who don't do so by choice.

Military ID if you're a servicemember

2019-01-27 23:23:53 UTC

but minorities are too incompetent to get an ID - (supposedly) non-racist, white, upper class communist

2019-01-27 23:36:10 UTC

It's not a matter of incompetence. It's a matter of cost, availability, and documentation. Cost - many people don't need a driver's license and they cost money. Availability - you can only get IDs are certain locations that may not be easily accessible on bus lines. Documentation - there are many older minorities who are disproportionately affected by never having gotten a birth certificate. Becoming less an issue through Gen X and later, but still an issue for boomers.

No documents are required to vote in the following states - California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Minnesota, Illinois, North Carolina, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts

2019-01-28 01:05:39 UTC

A few states hold elections by mail and thus theres no way for people to provide ID

2019-01-28 01:06:47 UTC

Other states still dont require a photo ID and will allow you to vote after signing a statement with name/address, getting electoral judges to attest on their behalf, or voting on a provisional ballot and returning in 2-4 days with an ID

Guys. Washington state just declared state of emergency in all counties because of... *drumroll* measles.

2019-01-28 01:44:20 UTC

Yeah, it's really bad in SW Wa.

anti-vaxers are natures response to us defying its power

2019-01-28 01:56:07 UTC

before those who would not survive disease would die, naturally leaving only those evolved to deal with. Since we tried to pretend we were better than nature, it blessed us with flat earth and anti-vac.

This is pretty late in regards to the ID stuff, but here's how it is where I am, if you care, @bitels
Arizona has a few different sorts of ID. Federally-acceptable ones include:
Passport, which iirc needs to be updated about every 10 years. Doing so takes a day at the DMV, which can be sped up by having your own photos pre-done at a Walgreens, Costco, or similar place. I think it takes ~$20 and a business week to get it.
Driver's License: You need to take a driving test to get one, which at 16 takes a few months of driving and parental help, but once you're over 18 you just have to prove you can do it and take the test. You might have to take the test multiple times, which is ~$10 per test, and again, a day at the DMV. Different places have different requirements for the tests, so places that require parallel parking usually are less busy than places that don't, for instance.
This weird thing that's like a Passport and a Driver's License that lets you go to Canada and Mexico by car only. Most people just use passports, but it's available.
Meanwhile, ones that aren't federally acceptable (but that you can still bring in to vote, get alcohol where applicable, etc) are:
State-issued ID: Usually people get this 3 times in their life. As a 13-year-old kid, to prove who you are so if you're out past curfew there's proof of you. 18-year-old, to get the minor bit removed. And 21-year-old, to remove the can't drink part. They cost $12, and a day at the DMV.
Then you ferry into school IDs, which are only for minors, and you can also bring photographic proof of who you are plus some mail, etc for voting. That can be looked up by state.

The thing is, once you've had your DMV day, most things can be renewed by mail and unless you need a photo update, it's just the $20 or $12 or whatever. And since you're required by law to update them whenever you move, if you stay in one place for a long time, that's $12 once in a blue moon. They're not that bad.

Tim, I wonder why you don’t reference this when talking about Gillette ad: https://youtu.be/x_HL0wiK4Zc

2019-01-28 06:31:13 UTC

Also, I haven’t seen you cover the fact that they removed the hip hop portion without losing their views (ie edited the video without having to take it down outside of what YT internal editor allows)

*quick question as a Canadian*
Why haven’t I heard any news about China threatening Canada over Hauwei, the multiple arrests of Canadians in China after the arrest of Hauwei Vp, the slating of executioner another Canadian prisoner after this fallout, the spin of the Canadian government being a rogue regime in Chinese media, etc?

2019-01-28 07:19:53 UTC

Also, Canada has been proclaimed “no longer safe for Chinese people”

2019-01-28 07:38:35 UTC

2019-01-28 07:39:13 UTC

2019-01-28 07:39:24 UTC
