I don‘t see how it doesn‘t turn into sharia law enforcement. Either the people that run it now are okay with it or they will be forced out by people that are.
The reason it doesn’t happen with Jewish/Asian patrols is they aren’t extremists. Muslims on the other hand are far more susceptible to extremist ideology as it’s far more mainstream.

You could argue that but it has nothing to do with religion. It's just people abusing power which happens in any group where they see themselves as figures of authority (not that it makes what they did right). Muslim patrols tend to be religion specific which is another layer of concern.
I actually have some experience with the Jewish patrols since my dad volunteered for them and took me on a few patrols as a kid. Basically all we would do is drive around and report suspicious activity to the police via the radio in the car.
