What you mean?

2018-10-27 09:57:15 UTC

Look, just because something *could* have happened and it would make for a more interesting story doesn't mean it's the more plausible option.

2018-10-27 09:57:25 UTC

The world isn't always interesting.

2018-10-27 09:58:22 UTC

So why make up crazy theories when in all likelihood the reality is that it's just far more simple and boring?

2018-10-27 09:59:05 UTC

Just saying. Not ruling anything out, but it's not a grand project that requires any external actors to happen.

2018-10-27 10:00:19 UTC

Because there is a lot of power/money at stake ... one can not be naive. It only takes one handler, not so expensive, but well paid maybe $100K for the job. With millions in donor money floating around ...

2018-10-27 10:01:16 UTC

In that case, why not just use those resources to make the bombs, wipe them clean, and deliver them without leaving any loose ends?

2018-10-27 10:01:32 UTC

Van guy would be a huge liability.

2018-10-27 10:01:49 UTC

No, because you need a known Rep crazy to pin it on.

2018-10-27 10:02:34 UTC

The guy fits all the stereotypes ... perfect pawn...

2018-10-27 10:02:41 UTC

What if he rats them out though? There's no way of ruling out that possibility.

2018-10-27 10:03:17 UTC

Sure, but it will just be viewed as a stunt to get out of the charges ... he cops a plea deal and take a less sentence.

2018-10-27 10:03:53 UTC

Seems like an extremely unnecessary risk. I wouldn't take it if I had the resources and motivation to do this sort of thing.

2018-10-27 10:04:47 UTC

No real risk, the only risk is if the handler back stabs you. That's why it is an expensive job, but some "Political Consulting" group.

2018-10-27 10:05:14 UTC

Eh, it's possible. I just don't see it being reasonable personally.

2018-10-27 10:05:35 UTC

And this group is probable 3rd hand, so if caught plausible deniability ...

2018-10-27 10:07:09 UTC

If you search the internet, there are far more complicated schemes financed. This one is not that difficult actually.

2018-10-27 10:09:25 UTC

Lone guy living in a van, befriend him, alcohol, money, women at the strip bar ... invite him back to your man cave for beers and joke about the evil Dems and making bombs .... have the material laid out etc ... he is drunk, his hands are all over it .... then send it out.

2018-10-27 10:09:33 UTC

Of course it's not difficult, that's not my issue. I'm just saying there's no special skills required for any of this, and a reasonably unhinged person could easily pull it off, without any need for other actors to be involved at any point.

2018-10-27 10:09:43 UTC

Except maybe some guy cutting PVC pipes up for him at the hardware store.

2018-10-27 10:10:28 UTC

Oh sure, doing it that way would actually be much more reasonable.

2018-10-27 10:11:00 UTC

"I didn't do it, I swear, and I have nobody else to point to" would be much better.

2018-10-27 10:11:06 UTC

Probably cheaper too.

2018-10-27 10:11:36 UTC

The handler blackmails, so he is implicated ...

2018-10-27 10:12:19 UTC

Says, just kidding .... but this is part of the trap ... he double crosses and sends it out.

2018-10-27 10:12:39 UTC

I meant what you said about getting the guy drunk enough to pass out and just get whatever prints / DNA stuff you need.

2018-10-27 10:12:56 UTC

Yes another possibility ...

2018-10-27 10:13:47 UTC

So we shall see when the question him to see how and where the bombs were made ...

2018-10-27 10:14:25 UTC

My money is on him just being a crazy hobo.

2018-10-27 10:14:31 UTC

We may never know the details. If I am him, I would claim I was duped, but have no evidence of this.

2018-10-27 10:16:07 UTC

Police eager to convict, will get him to plead guilty, and for sure the evidence will point to guilty.

2018-10-27 10:17:11 UTC

He may get a lesser sentence this way...

2018-10-27 10:18:22 UTC

Whether true or not ... police won't want to perpetuate conspiracy theories .... zip it up neatly. Part of the plea deal will be to shut up about any conspiracy nonsense.

2018-10-27 10:18:38 UTC

At least years later, when it won't matter.

2018-10-27 10:23:38 UTC

If this guy is really a Trump nut, and he or his lawyer is smart, float the "I was duped conspiracy" story and make MSM go nuts ... true or not, think of the effect ... and possible better plea deal to admit in fact the story is a hoax.

2018-10-27 10:25:36 UTC

He was too drunk to remember anything ... he is a looser after all....

2018-10-27 12:25:25 UTC

@kontroll that is a neat usb powered soldiering iron. A great find. My old field soldering is running on lighter gas.

2018-10-27 12:26:32 UTC

@4AM_critter 🐉 Probably way more reliable though. As I recall this thing had a compromise that impacted its longevity in order to make it even work in the first place.

2018-10-27 17:12:48 UTC

you know, if I was an absolutely crazy trump nut that wanted to set all this up as a conspiracy theory right before the election, I'd probably do the same as this guy is doing, except have hidden in some safety deposit box somewhere evidence that the democrats paid me to do it, and 'accidentally' reveal it a few days after I was caught.

2018-10-27 17:13:55 UTC
2018-10-27 17:15:01 UTC

The ends justify the means, much?
