It seems i wouldn't eat a banana that contains DNA
Does anyone remember when the Facebook/Twitter page "God" was okay and didn't go SJW?
Boomerbook
Sargon of Akkad kinda deserved to get banned on Patreon and kinda not. Yes, Patreon has been selective, and that's wrong. Yes, it was off-platform so that makes it a little iffier. But people are acting like it's ridiculous for social media companies to ban people who use the n-word, and that's no different than TV of the past. Some regulation has always existed on different platforms whether that be radio, TV, etc. It's okay to do the same on the Internet, as long as people can get their ideas across.
Well, the Patreon headquarters have a road in front of them and a fire department in town, so it's complicated /s
@Ranko Troll me all you want, but I'm speaking substance. You aren't. That speaks volumes.
Well their actions completely contradicted what jack said in the Dave Rubin interview
I'm memeing dude, chill lmao

I may be wrong, but if you are a CEO of a company, and you directly lie about what your platform does
@Countess My point is broader than just Patreon and Sargon. I recognized that some of the specifics make it a little iffier in the Sargon case specifically, but I'm trying to speak about the principle of whether it's okay to ban people over using words like the n-word or not
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the principle of complete free speech and no banning at all is what is being used to justify why bans are wrong, not just the specifics about Sargon's case
I think the controversy comes from how quickly and silently they did it, as well as how he technically didnt break their company policy
I think people are overcorrecting to fight against SJWs
IM GONNA SAY THE N WORD
I think people are mad because pateron is deciding what is acceptable and what isnt
MRS OBAMA GET DOWN
When they directly said that wasnt their job, just a few months back
If Patreon doesn't decide, who does?
Well they said they wouldnt do that
Maybe the patrons?
if people don't like it it won't get monnies
If patreon was run by people that got mad at the word "cracker"
and went around targeting podcasts that used it
admittedly its not the same at all
But its still their decision to own
There is reason to ban without allowing just Patrons to decide for themselves. Patrons have to decide AFTER they hear something. Banning prevents something. There are kids younger than 10 who use Patreon. It's reasonable to try to keep the tone of conversation within a certain spectrum
So his N word thing happened off of patreon
I guarantee you if Patreon banned anybody who said Cracker the free speech crowd would be less happy, not happier
People would become patrons **before** being well aware of the content they help fund ?
Free speech for all, whether we like it or not.
@Countess Yes. I'm trying to get you to talk about the principle but you're only resorting to talking about the specifics of one case
@Illyrian Even 6 year-olds?
Because I dont agree that is what the controversy is about
@atheist4thecause I must.
what?
If you use the N word on twitter, and you get banned
Im fine with it
Its part of their policy
Patreon specifically said they would not ban you for things off platform
