You know some cars run partly on solar panels, right?

2019-01-10 21:46:22 UTC

cars need fuel, you put fueling stations alone roads

2019-01-10 21:46:28 UTC

not yet they can't

2019-01-10 21:46:40 UTC

and they don't work at night

2019-01-10 21:46:48 UTC

I said partly...

2019-01-10 21:47:02 UTC

yes, and i said use the average

2019-01-10 21:47:23 UTC

more fuel efficient, more cost you put on the fuel to fix the roads.

2019-01-10 21:47:39 UTC

for government its a tax, for private roads they just own the fuel stations

2019-01-10 21:48:29 UTC

not perfect but nothing is

2019-01-10 21:50:58 UTC

I think it's unsustainable, because it would exponentially drive people towards different ways of powering their car

2019-01-10 21:51:18 UTC

how so? the roads are paid for one way or another

2019-01-10 21:51:44 UTC

Well for example buy homecharger for new model of your electric car

2019-01-10 21:51:44 UTC

this money isn't coming out of anywhere really new

2019-01-10 21:52:16 UTC

most can't get very far. but if its the state then you tax their homecharger

2019-01-10 21:52:24 UTC

for private roads well then they would need to put up tolls

2019-01-10 21:53:20 UTC

they replaced tolls in my state with gas tax because of a horrible accident at a toll booth

2019-01-10 21:53:38 UTC

obviously this was before the current high speed cashless systems

2019-01-10 21:54:02 UTC

also they are trying to put back in tolls without removing the gas tax because they need to "repair the roads"

2019-01-10 21:54:15 UTC

something they only need to do because they raided the gas tax fund

2019-01-10 21:54:35 UTC

I think we can all agree road tolls are dumb

2019-01-10 21:56:03 UTC

It just makes traveling roads slower, and goal is (or should be for sane people) to make it so people spend less time in traffic

2019-01-10 21:56:04 UTC

alternatively, if people are going electric, you can put a tax on electrical usage, for the private sector well, they need to get money somehow, tolls are the most logical, or they need to bar EC vehicles that can be charged at home. Although EC still has to come a ways to have the needed range

2019-01-10 21:56:24 UTC

less time in traffic means either less vehicles or more road

2019-01-10 21:56:36 UTC

more road has a space issue, less vehicles has a logistics issue

2019-01-10 21:56:57 UTC

Elon is trying to go the more road route by decreasing tunnel building cost

2019-01-10 21:57:33 UTC

No, I just said that tolls are causing more time in traffic

2019-01-10 21:57:41 UTC

public transport is expensive out of high destiny areas, part of the reason it doesn't work well in the US compared to Europe.

2019-01-10 21:57:56 UTC

But Ill stop talking to you here, since I dislike talking past each other

2019-01-10 21:57:57 UTC

cashless ones don't

2019-01-10 21:58:41 UTC

new toll for the bridge i cross to go visit my parents doesn't require an electronic tag or slowing down at all

2019-01-10 21:59:20 UTC

I'm down for credit based Tolls...

2019-01-10 21:59:23 UTC

based on weight

2019-01-10 21:59:35 UTC

but that causes a different question: are high volume roads more expensive per vehicle or less?

2019-01-10 22:00:02 UTC

more vehicle is more wear, but less other things like cleaning and snow removal

2019-01-10 22:06:56 UTC

its not just the amount of vehicles but also the weight.

2019-01-10 22:07:08 UTC

racist

2019-01-10 22:07:15 UTC

1000 1t cars might be fine, but 3 40t Lorrys might cause more damage than the cars

2019-01-10 22:08:03 UTC

@Wulfolme I'm born Nazi, so don't care if you call me the R Word 😛

2019-01-10 22:08:56 UTC

you're supposed to say 'How is that racist?' so I can reply "I don't know"

2019-01-10 22:09:32 UTC

You are supposed to reply to 'How is that racist?' with angry NPC face meme 😄

2019-01-10 22:25:54 UTC

I'd heard that they actually go out of their way to counteract people fucking with their odometer
