dorian nakmoto newsweek is one
fake news got him harassed
It's hard to think of any cases where fake news was really all that dangerous. It's mostly just good at filibustering productivity into infinity.
People getting harrassed by news is easy ....CNN
I mean, it also depends on what you consider news
Dozing the redditor who made that meme
Doxxing
@Timcast if you are interested in fake news you should check the old communist ones
Although, as someone who actually followed the Pizzagate thing, I considered Comet Ping Pong a distraction from the actual evidence
Obama telling people they could keep their doctor. I'm sure that led to medical complications...
They produced some of the most ridiculous shit
There's the whole matter of shots fired there
false reporting on cop shootings and then following deaths of cops by radials
and causing riots
Technically fake news because fringe outlets were reporting on it.
big problem of news is they play telephone with info
Didnt tim do a video a few weeks ago about a shooting where the protestors were proved wrong by police body camera footage?
Those sorts of things happen ALL the time.
Citing the original source and changing it slightly, then someone cites them and so on
Oh yeah the black people gettinng shot or arrested then the racist body cam footage proved otherwise
@Timcast What's the scope of people who can create 'fake news'? Are we talking CNN, or pundit-level individuals like Infowars and Shaun King?
Check my clip out
😂
If Pundits count, Shaun King spread news about a Texas DPS who was accused of sexually assaulting someone he arrested
Too lazy to check; people know Dankula's second appeal was rejected and that Canadian judge ruled against HBR?
Completely exonerated after police body cam footage was released
But as a result of Shaun King reporting false information
he got not one, but two DPS officers and their entire families threatened
Sure enough, he turns around and turns himself into the victim of the story as well.
Perhaps we should be thankful at least the media haven't gotten people killed way more often.
I'm surprised how difficult it is to find an example.
Given the Lynch Mobs of the Left, it's a damned miracle.
Lies get people killed all the time, but I can't think of anything specific to the news.
I think it's more that it's hard to find a micro-example.
The entire situation is so large in scale
It's hard to find specific instances you can point to without months of context
Once it happens once, if the media doesn't condemn it enough, it'll open the flood gates
On a more conspiratorial side, how many suicides are reported after lynch mobs?
Suicides are generally not reported by news organizations on ethical terms.
