@Timcast The big thing going on now in the culture war is the lie of online hashtags. This is the core of "Get Woke, Go Broke." Companies are being told that in order to makes sales, they have to go with Hashtag calls on Tumbler and Twitter. The truth is, the Hashtagers are not buyers, and as such the companies aren't buying. The Consumers base wants good games, good movies, good stories. Instead they are being given a bunch of garbage made to cater to Hashtag calls.

@Timcast The big divide is the differance between people voting with hashtags vs people voting with their credit cards. The companies are being told to count the votes of the hashtags, and the people with credit cards have too often been left to foot the bill. And the Consumers are now sick and tired of this trend. Marvel publishing is bleeding out. Lucasfilms is bleeding out.

I have turned my back on more franchises than I can count because of this kind of bullshit.
I guess the only saving grace is that almost all entertainment is so awful these days that I don't feel like I'm depriving myself of anything. I do wish there were more good scifi books though. SJWs taking over that industry really hurt.
Well the issue is the theory has been adopted too widely
It works very well for standard products. Things like cars, microwaves, even food to a lesser degree all benefit massively from courting new markets because people use them for a long period of time.
Everyone has a favorite resturant that they constantly go to and ones they hate, even among fast food chains that literally have different names for the same things.
The differance is if a Car is a POS, then the company will have to change it. Everything else, it is harder to keep track of what is actually working vs false possitives
Exactly, the difference is that no feedback for the entertainment industry exists besides what people say about it.
Companies are being told to catter to non-costumers who won't become customers no mater what the company does to court them, in the mean time they are alienating their core customer base.
Right and this is a direct result of branding/blue sea theories becoming too widespread in the business world
I don't understand why companies try to pander to SJWs, when SJWs will not touch what they make and usually end up being boycotted by the SJWs.
