And also, I heard earlier something on how that Atlantis is real.
It's not.
It's a myth.
A legend.
A fable.
Yes.
It's a Greek myth.
No, It's first mention comes from a dialogue of Plato.
I think.
No, It's a philosophical dialogue.
A Socratic Dialogue.
Yes.
Timeaus and Critias.
Those are the dialogues.
Oh and i hear about how they cut someone off.
Yeah....if it's on the truth.
That's bullsh*t
Fuc**ng bulls*it
Oh the black hole picture?
Good isn't it?
No it isn't.
Yeah i know.
But still.
It's great to see what it looks like.
I'm not a frick.
@Human Sheeple Umm....
That's a good joke i'll admit, Landing on Pluto.
But if that's serious, Then...
Well...
**It's a little crazy**
So yeah.
That new's article.
Well i got that.
Yeah....as i said before @๐The Mad Philosopher๐, Your name suits you.
@Alli I agree.
The earth is round.
It's not flat.
It's not covered by a dome.
And the world is ever expanding.
Well unlike with the beliefs of many who think the idea of a spherical earth is merely a modern invention, It's not.
It's been known since the days of the Ancient Greeks that the earth is round.
Ok, Read a book called On the Heavens.
It was written by Aristotle in 350 BC.
It's the first book ever written on the subject of a round earth.
And if my remember is right, It was written to prove an argument and theory set down by Pythagoras 150 years prior.
Yes it's ridiculous.
I mean....you can thank Homer for the idea of a flat earth.
Since then he's caused a tidal wave of mis-information leading to this.
It is.
But it was the poet Homer who founded the idea.
In the 7th century.
I know.
i.e brainwashed lunatics.
@Human Sheeple Did you see my point above?
Guess not.
But i have proof that the idea of a round earth isn't a creation of NASA or any of that sh*t
@The United States Sure.
I told about how the idea of a globe earth dates back to Ancient Greece.
~500 BC to be exact.
By the philosopher Pythagoras.
He observed that if the moon is a sphere, The earth then is too.
Then in 350 BC, Aristotle wrote On the Heavens.
Giving out some proof that the earth was in fact round.
@Hamburger Guy Let me explain my friend.
A flat earth map?
You mean out of an atlas?
That's just a drawing.
I prefer the GNB and WEB translations for the canonical texts.
But the KJV is good too
For the non-canonical texts (Gospel of Thomas, 5 Maccabees, 2-3 Enoch, etc), I just go with whatever is available.
No
Not really
@Hamburger Guy Yes, I do hold an anarchic viewpoint, And i do like some of the ideas in Marxism, However i won't call myself an Ancom as i'm not.
@Bibleman I'll have to look into that version then, I've been looking for a good "study" translation (so to speak) of the canonical texts of the Old Testament for a while.
However i wouldn't use it for standard reading, In my opinion, The GNB and WEB versions do the trick in that part.
@Cookie I do.
Not at the moment, But perhaps later on we can we i'm in the mood to full-on chat.
It wasn't that bad, Well at the start at least ๐
This may sound like an odd question to ask on here, But has anyone here read any texts found in Buddhism?
@Tejiu The Gecko There's a site called suttacentral.net, That has a lot of the Pali Canon of Buddhist texts on it.
So you could go and try the translations from there
However there are sadly still a lot of Buddhist texts that have yet to have a translation, Mostly within the Chinese canon of Buddhist texts.
No problem ๐
Oh and as a side suggestion, There's another side called Dhammatalks, And on that site are a good number of essays and i think also commentaries on some Buddhist texts, So if you want, You could try it too.
Oh really?
What's it called?
Interesting
Well i'll have to take a look at it then.
Thanks!
Indeed.
@Tejiu The Gecko Indeed i am.
Thanks again!
Meh, Personally i'd just read the Bible itself.
But to each is his own ๐คท
Well i don't really care on the changes, I'm not picky on that, The only reason why i don't read, Nor necessarily like the KJV other than for it's historical value is due to the reason you pointed out above, It has a more difficult nature in reading it and also, The lack of a true meaning on some of the words.
That's why i personally just stick to the GNB or WEB versions for the canonical parts of the Bible.
No i wouldn't say he is.
Because i don't worship any god or gods for that matter
Umm...you seem to miss the point in that scenario, They explode because that's when suicide bombers detonate the explosives they're carrying, Even then, A lot of other people speak the phrase and even yell it and they don't explode.
